REPORT on farm . real estate taxes Last week the Agricultural Re search Service issued a report titled: Taxes Levied on Farm Real Estate in 1956. It shows, among other things, that taxes levied on farm real estate increased 5.3 per cent in 1956 to another record high. In relation to farm real es tate values, however, the figures show that tax levies declined slightly m 1956. Although real estate taxes gained 5.3 per cent, the value of farm real estate in private ownership rose about 7.1 per cent from March 1955 to March 1956. As a result, the av erage tax per $lOO of real estate value fell from $0.92 in 1955 to $0 90 in 1956. Demand broadening for fancy large eggs and while the call is by no means active, arrivals are being absorbed in better shape with top whites up a full cent. Yesterday’s sharp decline in medium whites proved too severe and with more active buying in terest, prices recovered one to two cents. Medium browns are easier under a lackTsf fall support. Pullet whites also recovered a cent. The general position appears in better shape.
