N. C Forney, 14, Wins Tractor Event at Lititz A strong close of beginners luck and cool nerves paid oil for 14 year old N Clyde Forney, R 4. Lititz, in the tractor duving con test at the Lititz Farm Show Fri day night Second was Russell Foreman, 2271 Oregon Pike, and third was Jay Mumma, R 2 Mt Joy. Forney guided his tractor and spreader through the 120 foot course without losing a point He then backed the spreader into a tight stall and lost points only when belting up to a forage blow er He lost only 20 points in all. The event was ludged on the same score card as the Farm Show 4-H and FFA contests ,/i Foreman ran a very close sec ond by losing only 25 points and Mumma accumulated 30 points Forney is a ninth grade student at Warwick Union High School and is enrolled in vocational agri culture This was his first contest. Ha is the son of Mr and Mrs. Norman G Forney The family operates a 100 acre steer and poultry farm Young Forney, who plans to farm after he finishes school, said that he was pretty well warmed up for the contest The family has been busy the past few weeks cutting silage, a job that takes quite a bit of skill with the trac tor I ■ r j «r - Foreman, who is 31 years old and the father of three children, operates a 125 acre general and dairy farm. A 4-H baby beef and tobacco club member in his youth, he started farming in 1939. In 1950 he started farming for himself in Manheim Township. This is the second year that he has placed second in the contest. His children are Judy, 11; Jim my, 7; and Jackie, three months. Other contestants in order of their placings are.
