County Soil District Winner Second Goody ear Award The Lancaster County Soil Conservation District has been named Pennsylvania winner of the Goodyear Foundation nation al soil conservation awards pro gram for the second time in four years. The county district won top State honors for the 1953-54 year’s work and according to the contest rules was ineligible to ” compete the following year. Last year the district placed second to Erie County in a close finish. The district and the two in dividual winners will be present ed bronze plaques symbolic of their achievements. Veterinarian’s Ingenuity Protects Dogs Tail A veterinarian in San Angelo, Texas, had a dog patient which repeatedly bruised its tail, ac cording to a report in the Jour nal of the American Veterinary Medical Association. The veterinarian wrapped two pieces of sponge rubber around the tail and fastened the edges with rubber cement. The collar thus fastened cushioned shocks when the animal wagged his tail against an object and it quickly healed. Collins. Colo., is Jerry Greiner, Manheim. Young Greiner won the trip in competition with 4-H and PFA members in Lancaster County. He left for Ft. Collins yester-* day, with a one day stop in Har risburg to meet others of the 42 member Pennsylvania youth delegation. The boys and girls are accompanied by eight adult chaperones. From Harrisburg they will fly to Denver, visit Rocky Mountain Park, and proceed to Ft. Collins. During the meeting, being held at Colorado A & M Col lege, Greiner will be on a Panel discussing “How „ Co-operative Education Works.” " Other features of the meet ing will be speeches by coopera tive leaders from over the United States on topics ranging from public relations to im proved management practices of George Rutt Stevens R.
