(LF Photo) 60 Million Smoke in U.S.; Cigar Smokers Older There are 60 million people in this country 18 years of age or older who smoke regularly or oc casionally, according to a 212 page report just off the press titled "Tobacco Smoking in the U.S in Relation to Income.” It is based on a survey made early in 1955 by the Bureau of the Census for the U.S. Public Health Service, and shows, among many other things, that about six; out of 10 men and three out of 10 women in this country smoko cigarettes. Cigar smoking, the report says, appears to be more closely as sociated with age than with in come Pipe smoking was also found to be more prevalent among older men, and older men, according to this report, tend to predominate in the lower income classes.
