BEAM, Manager Home Economics Congress Meets In Maryland The American and the Canad?" lan Home Economics Associations are hostesses for 'the mnth Inter national Congress on Home Eco nomics meeting this week, July 28 to Aug. 2, at the University of Maryland. This is the first time a Congress has been held in North reports Miss Ruth K. Kimble, ex tension economist, Lancaster county Every four or five years since 1908, similar meetings have been held in different countries. Headquarters for the Internation al federation are in Pans, Prance. This year’s attendance is esti mated at one thousand, with sev eral hundred of the delegates coming from other countries. Most of the speakers are home, economists who are doing out standing work in their own Coun tries. Many of them are known, internationally. During the week, the North Americans will introduce the delegates from abroad to the American feature of organized discussion groups. For this Con gress in the Western Hemisphere, Spanish is being added to the us-i ual official languages of English, French, and German. Professional field trips sched uled for three half days will in clude government agencies, edu cational institutions and com mercial facilities. To further in troduce the delegates from other /• countries to American family life, there will be informal entertain ment in home for one evening.
