GORDONVILLE, RDI.
Watch it pulverize the hardest ground, smooth your
roughest field into a mellow, level seedbed. See it
roll over rocks and stumps with ease.
A semiflexible frame and spring-cushioned gangs
permit the No. 241 to climb over a stone like a cater
pillar. No damage to blades or other parts. Your
tractor doesn’t have to hoist and drag it across an
obstruction. Yet, it’s rigid enough, strong enough,
heavy enough to cut the toughest surface.
Buy an all-purpose Oliver and you’ll have full angle
cutting, thorough shredding of trash, accurate depth
control in any soil. You’ll cross water-
ways, travel to and from fields easier.
You’ll get prelubricated, sealed-for
life disc and wheel bearings. Built
in four sizes— to 13 feet.

The report, also shows that
Pennsylvania farmers grossed $ll
million from tobacco last year.
This is 1 5 per cent of the total
state farm income and is down
$2 million from 1955.
Compared with the 1950-54 av
erage, prices received are down
a million dollars and percentage
wise, down a tenth of a per cent.
Acreage this year, according
to March 1 intentions, is about
the same as last year. The acre
age in type 41 tobacco has risen
steadily since 1952 when only
28,700 acres were planted.
However .prices have showed
a steady drop since 1953 when
the average was 27.5 cents a
pound.

Disappearance of Pennsylvania
and Ohio filler in the year end
ing &ept. 30, 1957, is preliminar
ily estimated at 59 million
pounds, compared with 62 mil
lion m 1955-56 Nearly "all of the
continental cigar filler types are
used in domestic cigar manufac
ture. Indications are that dom
estic disappearance in the first
half of the marketing year was
six per cent below the compara
ble months of last year.
Exports in October 1956-Apnl
1957 were substantially higher
than a year ago They amounted
to approximately 465,000 pounds.
Most of the exports went to Al
geria.
Prices for the 1956 Pennsyl
vania filler crop averaged 24
cents, one-half cent less than in
1955 and three .and a half cents
less than the average prices of
each of the 1953 and 1954 crops.
The average price for the Ohio
crop was 22 cents, up a little
from 1955.
•Pennsylvania filler type 41 is
not eligible for government price
support, as growers have reject
ed marketing quotas on 1956,
1957, and 1958 crops.
The present .partly price on
supported cigar tobaccos is 29.3
cents The tobacco is supported
at 90 per cent of parity.
