    MORE OF THE SAME weather is predicted by the U.S.
Weather Bureau for the next 30 days. Temperatures are
predicted to be much above normal, while rainfall is ex
pected to be below normal. During the week ended last
** Monday, temperatures at the Harrisburg weather station
averaged six degrees above the normal 77 degree average.
Bainfall was .15 inch below normal. Here in Lancaster
County, 2.47 inches were recorded Sunday. (U.S. Weather

Returning from Jamestown,

national “dairy - industry - birth
lay - party” Miss Shannon pre
sented the Governor with an
earthenwear milk-pan, over 350
years old and originally brought
over by the first English settlers
to arrive at James Point, Va. The
milk-pan was loaned to the Penn
sylvania State Capital Museum for
Tune Dairy Month by the Colonial
Historical Paik, Williamsburg,
Va., and will be on display in the
capital museum throughout June
Dairy Month.
The Governor also received an
authentic reproduction of a table
setting, including a 350-year-old
milk jug, milk-pan and two milk
cups, produced by the Williams
burg Pottery Factory especially
for the Pennsylvania June Dairy
Month event.
Miss Shannon is currently tour
ing Pennsylvania on a personal
appearance schedule at various
June Dairy Month events. This
fall she will represent Pennsyl
vania at the International - Dairy
Exposition in Chicago where she
will compete for the American
Dairy Association’s title of “Am
erican Dairy Princess.”

RONKS A talk on the pro
posed county health unit is plan
ned for the next meeting of
Farm Women 14 to be held at
1:30 pm., July 10, at the home
of Mrs. Howard Moore, R 7 Lan
caster.
Flans for the meeting were
made at a meeting held June 12
at the home of Mrs. Raymond
Barge, R 1 Ronks. Co-hostesses
were Miss Annie Sides and Mrs
Jessie Groff. Mrs. Walter Him
melreich presided.
Devotions were conducted by
Mrs. Barge. Roll call was ans
wered by telling where members
spent their honeymoon.
A contribution of $2O was giv
en to the county executive board
to be used in the county project.

Contest Held
By Society 22
WILLOW STREET In a flow
er arrangement contest held June
9 at a meeting of Farm Women
Society 22 at the home of Mrs.
William A. Weller, four prizes
were awarded.
Winners were- Miniature, Mrs.
Elvin Neff; children’s room, Mrs.
Donald Kepner; hall, Mi s. Donald
Esbenshade; and dining room,
Mrs. Harold Landis.
Contest judge was Mrs. J. S.
Smaling.
In the business session, $2O was
contributed to the county execu
tive board for equipment for St.
Joseph’s Hospital, Lancaster.
The president, Mrs. Willis
Rohrer, appointed the following,
as a nominating committee. Mrs.
Herbron Herr, Mrs. Kenneth As
ton, Mrs Preston Harmsh and
Mrs Paul Miller.
The next meeting will be the
annual tamily picnic to be held at
6 p.m., July 14, at Buchmiller
Park, Lancaster.
Egg Buying Program
To Be Discontinued
In announcing the purchase of
another 315.000 pounds of dried
whole egg solids last week, the
USDA also announced that pur
chases made under offers to be
received on June 18 of this week
would be final ones under the cur
rent egg-buying program A total
of 4,365,000 pounds of dried whole
egg solid have been purchased so
far under the modified egg-buying
