2—Lancaster Farming, Friday, May 10, 1957 Broiler Price Tops 20 Cent Mark At Lancaster Exchange Wednesday LANCASTER Broiler prices went above the 20 cent mark Wed nesday at the Lancaster Poultry Exchange when the average for 39,500 broilers was 20.52 cents. . This average included 2,400 barred cross birds which sold tor 18% cents. If they are excluded from the average, the price rises to 20.64 cents. All the rest of the birds sold for only two prices, 20*4 and 20% cents. The offering of slaughter cattle improved from a week ago. Compared with last Wednesday, slaughter steers and heifers unevenly 25-75 cents high er, some sales $1 up. Most .ad vance on choice and prime grades. Around 40 per cent of the supply was stocker and feeder steers nearly 10 percent cows. Slaugh ter steers graded mostly good and choice. Bulk choice slaughter steers 1,000-1,300 lbs. $23-24.50, high cheice and mixed high choice and prime $24.75-26, two loads 1,237 lbs. average prime $26.40. Load 1,375 lb. high choice and prime $25.
