12—Lancaster Farming, Friday, May 3,. 1957 Technician Short Course To Be Aug. 19-24 — The State of Agriculture has JfflWrtfticed that applications will be received until July 1 for en rollment in the second poultry technican training course. The special training school for qualified laymen will be held at the Pennsylvania State University during the week of August 19-24. Sixteen trainees .received licenses from the Department to w6rk as lay poultry technicans following the first school at Penn State last July. All have renewed their licenses for 1957. Training and licensing were made possible through an act of the 1955 State Legislature for ex pansion of the State’s poultry health program. Eradication of pullorum disease includes the testing of almost 2 million poultry blood samples - annually at the Summerdale'and regional poultry diagnostic laboratories of the Bureau of Animal Industry. ' The 1957 short course will be limited to approximately 15 trainees who must be at least 21 years of age. Application blanks are obtainable on request to Dr. Milo. The course will be given in the Department of Veterinary Science, Penn State College of Agriculture, under the direction of Dr. A. L. Bortree.
