The SGA sound off started with the SGA president, Brittney Walker, bring- ing the bustling Lion’s Den to silence. Vice president Mahek talked briefly about the Blue and White Ball coming up on November 6th and reminded students that tickets were on sale at the sound off and up until the day of. Rahel Tek then stood to explain that the dress is semi-formal and music, food, and pictures will be avail- able during the event. Another topic brought up at the sound off was Multicultural Week, which is the 16th through the 19th of November. As of now, all of the events will be held in Temezko, but this is subject to change: 16th: SGA plans to show a Youtube clip on the history and present day issues of the “N” word. Afterwards, there will be an open discussion and personal opinions can be voiced on the video. | 17th: Belly dancers that have worked closely with the artist Prince will perform dances for students. 18th: Cultural Jeopardy : 19th: Fashion Show and Multicultural food served. Joel asks that if anyone is interested in modeling for the fashion show to stop by the SGA office on the second floor of Commons. You are welcome to wear your own clothes or SGA will provide some for you to model. SGA closed the meeting with the heads of the committees stepping out from the pack and introducing themselves. They hope to reach a goal of $8,000 and are currently selling THON shirts for ten dollars. Finally, the meeting was finished up with free pizza and drinks for all in attendance. a Gay Straight Alliance Encourages | Holiday Giving Courtesy of the Gay Straight Alliance Holiday Toy Collection The GSA will be hosting a Holiday Toy Drive to help provide gifts for 600+ children currently in the care of the Community Action Agency of Delaware County. Toys are needed for all ages, and you may make a cash or gift card donation (please have amount written on the card). Donations of NEW, UNWRAPPED toys can be placed in the orange bins located in all four buildings/student lounges. Cash/card donations can be brought to the admissions office. The deadline for donations is December 10th. : Used Book Collection Have a lot of stuff lying around that you don’t use? Donations of used books, CDs, and DVDs are being collected now for a used book sale this spring. Please consider recycling your used books, movies or CDs for all ages and genre. Items can be placed in the orange bins located in all four student lounges/buildings. This is a great way to benefit your commu- nity this holi- day season! Photo courtesy of www.voapa.org Brandywine’s Multicultural Day By Angela Potter - Lion's Eye Staff Writer - alp5372@psu.edu On Thursday, November 19th, the SGA and the Office of Student Life will be hosting Multicultural Day from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm in the gym of the Commons Building. Students of more than fifty nationalities attend Penn State Brandywine, making it one of the most diverse campuses. Every year, Multicultural day is held to represent these students and inform others in the community of new traditions and customs in a fun-filled environment. Those who attend will enjoy a vibrant celebration of various cultures complete with international food and music. There will be a cultural fashion show, so students are welcome to wear any attire that is unique to their ethnicity. In addition to music and dancing, a special opportunity is being presented to clubs and organizations from Brandywine. Clubs may attend by representing the country of their choice. Countries will be represented through cre- ative presentation, dress, performance etc. This cultural celebration is free to students and all members of the community. Whether your goal is to show pride in your nationality or to learn more about the people around you, please come out and join the celebration.
