= <> Celebrating The Gifts of Mother Earth Penn State Brandywine’s Environment Club brought the celebration of Earth Day to the campus on Wednesday, April 22. Despite the rainy weather, the campus community came out to celebrate our planet with talk of environmental is- sues and the sharing of ideas and solutions for local and global environmental issues. Attendees took an ecologi- cal footprint quiz measuring each person’s impact on the earth, had the chance to see a car that runs on vegetable oil, enjoyed the sounds of a drumming circle and were able to eat a variety of foods provided at the celebration. Earth Day, celebrated in the US on April 22, is a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment. It was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in in 1970 and is celebrated in many countries every year.
