This one is called Breaking Dawn. It is written differently, and split up into three books. The first and last books are told from Bella’s perspective and the second is told by Jacob Black. The title is significant because it represents Bella’s upcoming life as a new vampire. The cover is a meta- phor to show Bella’s progres- sion from the weakest link in the story, the pawn, to the strongest piece on the board, the queen. Since Breaking Dawn is split into three parts, the first is told from Bella’s perspec- tive and contains the details of her and Edward’s wedding and honeymoon. Their honeymoon takes place on Esme Island, a private island that Edward’s father Carlisle named after his mother, off the coast of Brazil. While Bella is still in her human form, Edward honors her wishes and makes loves to her on thei “honeymoon. A little while later on the trip, Bella realizes that she 1s pregnant. Edward is con- cerned with her well-being and the fact that they are unaware of} the form the baby will take, thus he urges Bella to make Carlisle, a doctor, get rid of it when they return home. Bella will not let anyone convince her to get rid of the baby because it is a cre- ation of both her and Edward, so she turns to a very unlikely person, Edward’s sister Rosa- lie, for support. Rosalie has al- ways wanted children, but since she is a vampire is unable to have them. She never really took a liking to Bella and disagreed with her plans to be made im- mortal because of the sacrificing of the ability of childbirth and having her form of humanity taken away. But Rosalie sym- pathizes with Bella’s plight and helps her. The second part of the novel is ‘written through Jacob’s perspective. It covers Bella’s pregnancy and childbirth and what it is like for him and ‘the others to witness her going through such a difficult pregnan- cy that could eventually be fatal. The pack of werewolves that Jacob belongs to are unsure of the kind of threat the baby will pose on society and make plans to destroy it, even if they have to kill Bella in the process. Jacob who is still in love with her at this point will not take any part in the plans, so he leaves the pack and creates his own with Seth and Leah Clearwater, who follow him around by choice. But in actuality, Jacob is the true alpha leader of the pack, and not Sam. Jacob chose not to take up his position, but it is still in his blood to be the true born leader of the pack. Jacob and Edward form a bond in that they resent breaking dawn STEPHENIE MEYER AUTHOR OF THE 71 BESTSELLING TWILIGHT, WEN MOON, AND £C Photo courtesy of http: /ftwilightseries- theories.com the baby that is slowly destroy- ing Bella’s insides and making her weaker by the second. Since Edward can hear thoughts, he hears the baby’s and it reveals that it is not trying to hurt Bella and loves her very much, but is just growing so rapidly that it -cannot be helped. From there on Edward is no longer against Bel- la going through with the birth, and Jacob feels abandoned. ; Bella gives birth about a month after becoming preg- nant because it is such an unusu- al pregnancy. The Cullen’s knew that having Bella go through with the birth would almost kill her if not entirely. The birth breaks many of Bella’s bones and she loses a lot of blood, and in order to save her life Edward has to make a choice if he wants to change her into a vampire, which could potentially take away her soul, or leave her in the weak state she is in where she could poemially die at any second. What Hippeis at the end of this magnificent series? Well, 1 do not want to spoil it for anyone. All I can say is this book surprised me on many lev- els. Just when I thought I had it _ all figured out, Stephanie Myers threw another twist into the mix. To find out if Bella is made into a vampire and if she has any special powers like the rest of he Cullens, or if she remains a walking clutz you need to read the rest. If you want to find out what Bella and Edward’s baby Renesemee is really all about, good or evil, and why the Vol- turi seem to have found out all he way from Italy about it and want to destroy her is another ist that needs revealing. What happens to make Jacob of all people, who was com- pletely in love with Bella, love he baby unconditionally when she almost killed Bella being born? Is the outcome happy or sad? Well, go pick up your copies and find out. This is he last book in the series and you do not want to leave these questions unanswered. Although there were rumors that Stephanie Myers was releasing Midnight Sun, the book Twilight from Edward’s perspective, it is unclear whether she plans to continue with that. She was all set to have it released until the book got leaked on the internet and she lost all hope to finish writing it. If she does, well, I guess only time will tell. Next time we visit the Twilight world it will be a review on the movie which will be released on November 21st 2008. So stick around, we still have a little of Twilight left to cover I visited Saint Joes Uni- versity to do a review on Julie Gawne’s “Illumination” gallery with Paul DiPietro on Monday. What I was expecting were paint- ings and Julie or someone point- ing out what each of them meant, but it does say on the postcard invitation that it is mixed media “on paper and that’s exactly what 10 the gallery entailed. It was held in what looked like a little gin- gerbread house in Boland Hall. This is where the art students do some of their paintings according to one that I spoke to. As I tried to get a feel for a theme or some reoccurring attributes in the pictures, I saw that most of them had words in them and a lot of them showed women in an almost picturesque form. It can definitely be argued that there was an undertone of feminism and sexual innuen- dos in the pictures. Many of the pictures said “healthy stimula- tion” on them. One in particular said “we were both guilty” and showed a pictures of a woman and a man, so that to me could suggest an affair. Some of the pictures just said things like “insufficiency,” which could refer to how a man thinks he is perceived by women or vice versa “insignificance,” “discontent,” “memories.” Most of the pictures were of women and men from past generations ~ and the gallery had a vintage feel for it. It could just have been a representation of some of the things the unconscious mind - feels. Sometimes we all feel in- significant or discontent, and: other times we are simply hung up on the memories that we have experienced. “Illumination” is a good representation of the human psyche. I think I might have appreciated the gallery more if it were explained to me, but I was not as impressed with it as I thought 1 would be, and I am all about the arts. So I guess that mixed media on paper just has to be your thing for it to be enjoyed. I will say that Saint Joe’s cam- pus from what I saw was quite a splendid place. It has very gothic looking buildings, the students have their own press building, there are restaurants on every corner, and their bookstore is an actual bookstore on the street. So, if nothing else, I liked going for the atmosphere and seeing what a $40,000 dollar university looks like up close. It was my first choice when I was choosing" colleges, but $40,000 dollars is a whole lot of money. So I'll take Brandywine’s surrounding green grass over putting up the green to a university that expensive, no offense of course.
