With summer TV consisting of end- less reality shows and reruns, fall couldn’t have come fast enough. With a plethora of new shows, viewers are certainly in for a treat. New to ABC this sea- son is an American take on the British show Life on Mars, the story of a modern cop who finds himself back in the 1970’s. The show saw much success in the UK and little seems to have been changed for its move to the States. Returning this season are favorites like Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, and Push- ing Daisies all of which have re- ceived Emmy nominations. CBS is keeping comedy in the forefront with Gary Unmarried and Worst Week, another American rework- ing of a British sitcom. ~ Also on CBS is reality favorite Survi- ' vor this time in Gabon, Africa. Returning sitcom The Big Bang Theory is sure to make a splash too - where else can one experi- ence atomic physics used as punch lines? Sci-fi seems to be popular - on FOX with the premieres of both Fringe and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles in the prime- time lineup. House makes a re- turn for another season with Hugh Laurie having just been nominated for an Emmy this year. Absent is FOX’s ace in the hole 24 which has been delayed by the Writer’s Guild of America strike last year. NBC brings viewers a re-imagining of Robert Louis Stevenson’s clas- sic in their new drama Crusoe. The Office and 30 Rock also return to the lineup along with a new season of My Name is Earl. This Septem- ber marks the triumphant return of Heroes which was also disrupted by the WGA strike after only elev- en out of twenty four planned epi- sodes aired in the second season. Cable TV is sizzling with new programming as well. HBO brings the much anticipated Comic-Con favorite True Blood to: viewers this: fall. Seemingly endless streams of viral market- ing websites and advertisements have set expectations high for this adaptation of Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse book series. Starz, a network not well known for its original programming, has reworked the Oscar winning film Crash into a new primetime series starring Dennis Hopper. Show- time is returning with its criti- cally acclaimed hit Dexter starring Emmy award nominee Michael C. Hall reprising his title role. All in all, things look good for this season’s new lineup. So enjoy the changing leaves and the cool temperatures, but remem- ber to watch some TV this fall! In the world of music, there are few artists who are willing to spend money to give their - live shows a higher level of enjoyment and visuals. However there might be no greater show out there than one by Nine Inch Nails. The August 29th show at the Wacho- via Center in Philadelphia was hyped to be one of the best of the tour by some fans, par- ticularly due to Pennsylvania being the home state of front man Trent Reznor.
