On a warm spring evening on Thursday, April 14, faculty, stu- dents, staff, and family scurried to the John D. Vairo library to honor Penn State Delaware County's finest. All arose from their seats as the honors students walked proudly to the sound of the music, sinking into the seats designated for honors only. The student body glowed with diversity, with many cultures and ethnicities sat side by side. The honorees consisted of ethnic- ities that brought much color and flavor to the event. Stout, the Eric A. and Josephine S. Walker, as well as the John S. Eglh Scholar-Athlete award. There were smiles of joy, laughter and giggles among the crowd as each student arose to receive their award. At the conclusion of the ceremony, nearly 200 stu- dents, faculty, and staff received academic and com- munity-service awards. The evening ended with The 2005 winner of the Madlyn Hanes Faculty Award was Dr. Elizabeth "Jo" Buckmaster, one of the original faculty members still teaching at Penn State Delaware County. Buckmaster is an assistant professor of English. The Madlyn Hanes Faculty | Award is awarded to a full-time faculty member of Penn State Delaware County who has, according to the school's Web site, "made outstanding contri- butions to the campus commu- nity through exceptional achievement in teaching, research, scholarship, creative activity, or service."
