From now until Feb. 14, all stuffed animals are 20 per- cent off and today there will be a jewelry sale On Friday, Feb. 11, and Monday, Feb. 14, fresh flowers and balloons will be on sale. The last day to return a book for a full refund, if a student drops the class, is Feb. 10. A student who returns a book must bring proof of a schedule change and the original receipt. — JENNIFER RUFO Pre-Health Club to host guest speaker Thomas Riordan, M.D. will be a guest speaker on Thursday, Feb. 3. Riordan will answer questions about medical fields, medical school, and what courses to take. Students are encouraged to listen and ask ques- tions. The event will be held in Room 103 of the Classroom building from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Philosophy Club invites new members The Philosophy Club is up and running for the Spring 2005 semester. Everyone is welcome to come to the meetings, whether you're the next Aristotle or a curious stu- dent in one of Dr. Macauley's various philosophy classes. The club meets Wednesdays from 12:20 p.m. to 1:20 p.m. in Room 207 of the Main build- ing. : The club is discussion-based, and discussions are usually led by a member chosen the week before. Topics include, but are not limited to: the nature of time, reality, love, humor, philosophical films (Donnie Darko, The Matrix, etc.), and con- temporary moral issues (i.e. abortion, euthanasia, the death penalty). Ideas for future topics are welcomed and encouraged. Show up when a topic interests you, and add to our interesting, noisy discussions. Martial Arts Club makes its mark The Martial Arts Club offers training in self- defense and various forms of martial arts, includ- ing Brazilian jiu jitsu. The club meets Tuesdays and Thursdays in the auxiliary gym from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Participants should be dressed in athletic wear, and ready to be active. All equipment is provided, but feel free to bring personal gear. — WAYNE WILLIAMS Security office to move Students are reminded that they should have the proper identification tags on their cars. The parking permit for students this year is red, and anyone with a yellow tag from last year should update his or her permit immediately. Also, the security office will be changing loca- tions in the next couple of weeks. The security office will move from the ground floor in the Main building to the Commons build- ing, next to the Student Life office. The change is being made so the office can be more private, and should be more convenient for students. — MARTIN BEATTY Learning Center offers workshops The Learning Center has seven workshops coming up in the next three months. All workshops will be held Wednesdays during common hour (12:30 p.m. to 1:20 p.m.) in the Learning Center. The following are the workshops and their dates: Feb. 16, Getting Organized for Quizzes and Tests; March 2, Reading Efficiently and Effectively (strategies for cutting down on reading and studying time); March 23, Hints for Passing Tests and Exams (even if you aren't sure of the answers); April 6, Making Your Memory Work For You; April 20, Last Minute Exam Preparation; and April 27, Stress Management. The American Studies Club is for all those either in the major, or who have an interest in the major. This club is new on campus, having been established during the Fall '04 semester. Previous activities included the Beat Museum and Lt. David Fleming's talk on Iraq. All meetings for the Spring semester will be held in the Main building, Room 320, during com- mon hour.
