CIRC NY ed on Sal January 18, 2005 a nd aie pg : Eas i ; Eve on Campus Hisham Rahmi an all-around success You name it, he’s played it at PSU Delco seven years. He hopes the rest of that team holds on to the same memory with as much passion. There's a lot more to Rahmi than just sports. He's also a big fan of video games and comedies. His favorite movie is "The Mask." By MATTHEW KELLY When he's not watching movies, Lion’s Eye Photography Editor he's starring in them. This summer MJK5039@psu.edu : he became part of the “Penn State Made” video that was produced to Penn State Delco offers many help freshmen become acquainted male sports: basketball, baseball, with Penn State. It was shown at soccer, tennis, a hockey club ... the VEY freshman orientation last list goes on. Well, no it doesn’t. But most people can't say they have played every single sport offered at campus. Hisham Rahmi isn't most people. Rahmi may be remembered from his performance in the “Penn State Made” video last summer. Others might know him because he's just an all-around friendly guy. But perhaps many of you know him because you have seen him on the baseball field, the basketball court, on the hockey rink, or on the soccer field “I didn't plan it to happen, just fate I guess," he answers when you ask him how he’s managed to play every sport offered on campus. "I can't sit still, I have to get up and do something." While he’s hit fastballs and scored goals, his highlight memory is shooting hoops back in 2002 when Penn State Delco basketball made it to the playoffs for the first time in summer. This acting opportunity of a lifetime came about from being at the right place at the right time over the summer. "T was at the school and Luanne [Sims] saw me and sort of just grabbed me and asked me to be in it," said Rahmi. With eight semesters under his belt, he said the one thing he learned about himself here is when it comes to sports he is a competi- tive person. He loves to compete. If it wasn't for his love of competition, then he never would have played every sport at Delco. This desire developed from an inspirational quote by Michael Jordan: "I'd rather fail than to not try at all." Finally, Rahmi offered these words of wisdom: "Never show your bad side,” he said. “I always smile even when I have a bad day, I try to hide the bad because it's good to smile. It makes others smile, too." Hisham Rahmi, star of the “Penn State Made” video, has been a pres- : Photo b y Matthew Kelly ence in campus sports for all of his four years at Delco.
