Despite the two-hour class delay and freezing rain, the team was able to leave for its first cross-state trip to compete against the western Pennsylvania Penn State campuses. The change required the team to withdraw from the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference and expand its schedule against other Penn State campuses within the Commonwealth Campus Athletic Conference (CCAC). Their first trip west was sched- uled for the first weekend in December, but was rescheduled due to a snowstorm and campus clos- ings. Those games, against Penn State McKeesport and Penn State Beaver, have been rescheduled for late February. Players packed both their home and away uni- forms for their trip this weekend. Since there are no laundry facilities available on the road the team mem- bers planned to wear their home jerseys against Penn State New Kensington for their Friday night game, and their road jerseys for their Saturday afternoon game against Penn State Dubois. The team will finish its season with games against Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Schuylkill, and York. Later this month, two Western teams will travel east to Penn State Delaware County. The team takes on Penn State Fayette at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21 and faces Penn State Mont Alto at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21. Co — JEFF HUBER Intramural basketball tips off A 3-on-3 intramural basketball tournament is sched- uled for next Monday, Feb. 16, during Common Hour (12:30 p.m.). The tournament will run for approximately six weeks, depending on the number of registered teams. Games are held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at Common Hour in the gym. : Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to' come . out to cheer on the players as they compete for the title of intramural basketball champions. Students may work up to 10 hours per week as lab aides in Penn State Delco's computer labs. This job ‘requires a basic working knowledge of Macintosh and/or personal computers in order to assist students with computer software and hardware. Hours are flexible and can be scheduled around classes. In efforts to proceed on to nationals the Lions will have to win all their games in the playoffs or be one of the top three teams in the Atlantic Conference Hockey League. The. team has encountered many problems during the season, including a change of coaches Playoffs will be held from Feb. 20-22 and Feb. 27-29, and all home games are played at IceWorks in Aston. The Penn State Delco hockey team is holding a raf- fle for a dirtbike as a fund-raiser. You can buy tickets for $5 each from any team member. : — JESS GOLDEY Positions for student senators open The Commonwealth College student elections have begun. Three student leadership positions are available for 2004-2005: Student Senator for University Faculty Senate (one position) and Student Representatives for CWC Faculty Senate (two positions). Students can nom- inate themselves. The deadline is Feb. 16. The University Faculty Senate is the representative body of the faculty and has authority about the univer- sity's educational interests. Also, the Senate serves in advisory and consultative capacities to President Graham Spanier on issues affecting attainment of Penn State's educational objectives. The Senate includes 21 student senators. UFS student senators are full voting members, and each student senator serves as a member of one of the 11 Standing Committees. Student senators aré expect- | ed to attend the six full Senate meetings during the year, along with participation in the assigned commit tee.
