The e-portfolio will give you the opportunity to do just that. E-portfolio is a Web-based service that lets stu- dents organize and gather their ideas of their involve- ment at Penn State, including course work, extracur- ricular activities, and any other Penn State experi- ence. It is offered to every Penn State student at no charge by the university's Information Technology Services. The Web site provides models of student portfolios, instructions for developing one of your own, and faculty instructions to incorporate e-portfo- lio assignments. Students will need to gather evidence, or be able to collaborate everything from their academic achievements to personal experiences in order to begin making a portfolio. The next part is selecting evidence to put in your "Hall of Fame." "[It is] an excellent opportunity for students to plan and achieve educational goals," said Celia Lang, career counselor. Creating a portfolio will allow students to share their work and experiences with future employers, gain knowledge on information technology skills, and other lifelong skills beyond the classroom. "Creating my e-portfolio helped me to realize the importance and necessity of exploration and analyti- cal examination of situations for my growth as a teacher," said junior Stephanie Voorhees, an educa- tion major. “Creating this portfolio has given me the chance to reflect on what I have accomplished and what I really know,” said senior Michael Eisenreich, an IST major. "[This is] important for liberal arts students because they can demonstrate their online abilities that they have learned here at Penn State,” said Lang. For more information, visit the Student Life Center, second floor, Commons Building, or visit the e-portfolio Web site at http://portfolio.psu.edu. a ERpRIENLE om | zi nadact an Arkiact : ra pragental ion i Aint ig ard F whois, can elo con git roles sional and lifglong leamer ii os and Ine 4 W al le | Ig See & te he © inl iain #5takl thes stangsel foe Gi af ite Pinatas teachers. kil alors euch pe nCH pos i they, Both ey Ad @ ute Tp fy inexhaustible growls F321 as State prin ity’ #48 Shing Junior Stefanie Voorhees says creating an e-portfolio “helped me to realize the importance and necessity of explo- ration and analytical examination of situations for my growth as a teacher." Book buyback under way at bookstore By JENNIFER RUFO JLR397@psu.edu Lion's Eye staff writer came with when purchased, such as CDs. must be in good, usable condition. The bookstore cannot buy back the book if it has pages The book also It's that time of year again, when the weather gets cold and finals start . It is also the time when students can sell back their text- books to the Penn State Delco bookstore, located on the first floor of the Main building. This year’s buyback week is officially Dec. 16 to Dec. 20, but the week before is also a great time to sell back books. In order to sell back a book, a student must have a form of picture ID and the book must have everything that it missing, is excessively written in, and has water, coffee, or other liquid stains. The bookstore's buyback policy is that the book will be bought back at 50 percent of the new price of that book, if the book is being used on campus again next semester and if the bookstore is not overstocked. All other books may be bought back wholesale by the National Wholesaling Company through the bookstore. The buyback is a great way to earn extra cash toward books for next semester, or for lunch for the day.
