April 7, 1998 —- LIONS EYE - Page 9 Alumni E-mail Accounts Keep Folks Up-to-Date By Jenn George PSU alumni soon will be able to access e-mail through their former PSU student accounts. Current student accounts titled abc123@psu.edu will change to abcl23@alumnipsu.edu immediately after graduation. The Alumni Association will keep this acount on file, so when any mail is sent to it, it is automatically transferred to the graduates’ new home/work personal account. * All the graduate must do is attain a new e-mail account through AOL or some other source, ~ and notify the Alumni Association of its address. The alumni account is then used as a conduit, forwarding any incoming mail to the new peronal account the graduate uses for current purposes. One advantage to the new system is alumni don’t have to worry about losing contact with former college buddies. Any PSU graduate can be located and communicated with, as long as he/she consistently notifies the Alumni Association of any changes in his/her personal home/work e-mail account. A slight disadvantage is that mostly college related mail would be sent to the alumni account because work or personal mail would most likely be sent directly to the recent account, not needing to be forwarded from the alumni account at all. At least this system provides a reliable means of communication between alumni, years after graduation. Right now this service is free of charge, but will probably change in the future. This service will be available in summer ‘98 for interested alumni. JoAnne Johnson (left) and Liz Mondi present a Time Management segment in Got Something To Sell or Advertise? Comm Club AM Radio Show Aims to Attract Members By Christine Heffernan This year’s Communication Club fears the possibility of not continuing into next year. “It’s tough to get a club off the ground when no new members come to meetings with fresh ideas,” stated the vice president of the Communications Club, Paul Basilio. President of the Communications Club, Melissa Pach stated, “The only things that we are trying to do this semester are the radio show and a trip to the Sony Center in New York.” The radio show will play on station AM 1590 WPWA in hopes of attracting quite a few people and having fun at the same time. This radio show will play in the cafeteria and a talk show will domino-effect off of it. The talk show will allow students to call inand voice their opinions on various topics. One student, Brian McCarthy (first semester, business) suggested, “The Communications club should develop several personalities to run a comedy session on the radio show where stupid surveys could be conducted on campus live.” He preferred to listen to Howard Stern's radio show over competitors simply for the entertainment. What radio show host's personalities or skits appealed to you? Students need to voice your opinion, or you may have a great communication tool with a show that bores you. Listener's interests is what makes the show great. Melissa Pach and Paul Basilio want the reassurance that radio show develops out of the listeners best interests and will not fail miserably without an attempt. “The one thing about our club that I am afraid of is that there is only one member who is going to be here next semester. I would love to see this club go on, since we are starting to put together some fun ideas,” said Melissa Pach. The club prefers that new members be Communications majors in order to put their knowledge to use. Members meet every Tuesday from 11:30 p.m. in room 112 in the Vairo Library. All interested students are welcomed to join. Students unable to attend these meetings can speak with one of the following members: President Melissa Pach, Vice President Paul Basilio, Secretary Christina Papa, or Treasurer Eric DiFransico. Or they can reach Pach by email at mlp182@psu.edu or Basilio at pnb101@psu.edu. April Horoscopes Bring Wild Times and Revenge By Cynthia Moore Aries: 3/25-4/23 This is your time of the year! With the weather reaching the high 70s most days you feel empowered and more self-motivated than ever. Use that energy for healthy physical activities, but don’t forget to do your school work. Don’t forget, in two weeks you have an important paper due. Taurus: 4/24 -5/24 Watch out for back-stabbing friends around the middle of the month. Try to spend some quality time with that special person in your life. Before you take that trip to Atlantic City you keep thinking about, be sure not to leave any loose ends at home. Gemini: 5/25 - 6/24 On April 10 you will receive a call from a friend to go out to a club or bar. Even though you're unsure about the area, go and have fun. The people you will meet and the laughs you'll have will be worth it. Cancer: 6/25-7/23 Stop picking apart that daisy! You know you should get rid of that person in your life making you feel so insecure. Remember how happy you used to be when you were single. Call some old friends and go out for a change. Who knows, you may even meet somebody new. Leo: 7/24 -8/24 The lion in you is ready to come out, so make room for some wild times inyour life. The new love you've been seeing for about two months now is getting serious. If you don't feel the same let them know. Plan a day trip for you and someone you enjoy spending time with on the 19th. Virgo: 8/25-9/23 Wake up from your day dreaming and finish those assignments you've let pile up at school. The professor won't let you hand all of them in at the end of the semester. Remember she has other students besides you. Libra: 9/24 - 10/24 ~ Okay, so things have been going pretty well for you lately. You're no longer in your winter funk, but you're also not that great. You've been walking around like you know more than everybody else, and to let you in on a little secret ...everybody has been humoring you! Scorpio: 10/25-11/23 Yes, yes, you're in love again and this time it’s the real thing. Don’t pick out a China pattern just yet. Remember the old rule of cards before matrimony. Well I suppose it can also work with a game of Monopoly, but the true test is ‘not in the game you play, but how you play it. Does you're partner cheat, lie . or are they so competitive that they forget it’s a game? It’s a good look into their attitude towards life and relationships in general. Sagittarius: 11/24 - 12/22 So you finally feel like you're job is done and you now want to have some fun. Good, go do that, but not at another's expense. At times you get so carried away that you forget anybody else has feelings worth your _ consideration. It only works until you hurt the wrong person. Watch out for the new friend you made back in September, they may surprise you with what they know. Capricorn: 12/23 -1/25 You've been wasting a lot of time lately with thoughts of revenge. Why don’t you concentrate on taking care of yourself. Remember success is the best revenge. By not taking care of yourself, you're doing your enemies a favor. Aquarius: 1/26 -2/24 There has been warm weather and your thoughts have strayed far from school, but too many late days spent in bed will reflect on your grades at the end of the semester. And since you're thinking about transferring, remember Ds and Fs don’t transfer. Pisces: 2/25-3/23 You know what you want to do, so go and do it! That outfit you've been thinking about getting has your name all over it. It might be expensive, but it will last you a long time, and make you want to go out somewhere with it on.
