October 10, 1996 Page 3 Delco Hires New Security By Laurie Koechert A new face on campus brings not only security but a little taste of the Lonestar State. That's right, his name is Brian Finney, and he is the new community service officer for Penn State Delco. : His outgoing attitude was revealed when he noted, “If anyone has a problem with anything, they should feel free to stop by the office and talk.” With no major problems since he started his job on campus, September 16, Finney hopes to be available to assist any student, staff or faculty member when needed. In addition to being in charge of security and safety concerns on campus, he tries to assist students who need help. That includes jumping cars whose batteries have died and retrieving keys locked in cars. Finney is also in charge of the campus lost and found. He gets a — LION’S EYE — description of the article which is lost and gets the name and number of the owner. Unfortunately, Finney is also required to give those students who fail to abide by campus policies in regard to parking, a violation. Finney earned his Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, near his home town. While he was a full time college student, he worked as a corrections officer full time. When he was a college student and a corrections officer, he married someone who was also involved in law enforcement. Before coming to Penn State, Finney was a police officer in Ohio Township, a suburb of Pittsburgh. Brian, who is in his mid-twenties, has a long term goal to become a federal law enforcement agent. But for now he plans to enjoy his time at Delco and make the best of his job as community service officer. Activities Fee Pays For Rites, Rides & Recreation By B.
