The 6-3 final score is not a good indicator of the closeness of the game, expecially in the first half. Head coach Ron Case summed up the first stanza say- ing, “Ogontz scored fairly late in the first half making the score 1-0 at halftime, but it could have easily been 2-1 in our favor if we had converted some excellent goal-scoring oppor- tunities. That goal gave Ogontz momentum.” The second half saw Ogontz break the game open, exploding early with four unanswered goals to take a 5-0 lead. The teams then exchanged goals, with Tibor Lehotay scoring for Delco making the score 6-1. Dave Phillips and Mark Gray added goals late in the game to make the final score 6-3. Despite the loss, Coach Case was very positive in his thoughts about this year’s team. “We had a good, solid Delco loses championship game soccer team,” he said. “We did tie for first place in the regular season and we beat Ogontz earlier in the year. It was a very satisfying season for me and it was just too bad we lost.” The team’s overall record was 10-4, 5-1 in league play . . .
