Licenses to have Color Photos Harrisburg -- During the next four years, the state will replace paper drivers’ licenses with plastic licenses bearing color photos. Also, the license period will be extended from two to four years. “During the phase-in period, licenses that end in an even number will be renewed with the new four-year photo license,” said Jack Zogby, deputy secretary of the Depart- ment of Transportation. Licenses ending in odd numbers will be renewed once more using a two-year paper license, he said. Motorists will receive plastic ~ licenses in the mail and will then have 60 days to have their picture taken at a designated location. More than 80 sites will be set up across the state for the state's 1.8 million drivers. The state has signed a four- year, $11-million contract with Dek-Electro of Fort Wayne, Ind., to provide the facilities and equipment for the program. The contract says no motorist should live more than 45 minutes from a photo location, The annual cost of licenses will increase from $5 to $6.50. The cost of a four-year license will be $21.50. : The licenses will be similar to those used in 42 other states and the District of Columbia. —Reprinted from the Philadelphia Bulletin AR STH >The Music File L 8 Album Review Shape of Things to Come? Now that the year 1980 is almost upon us, it's nice to know that the future of rock music is still in good hands. One can foresee this future in Bob Dylan's new album, Slow Train Coming. Dylan has been a heavy influence on many artists throughout the years. This par- ticular release will have a definite impact upon new talent as well as established artists in the years to come. : Earlier in the year, Dylan con- verted to Christianity, so plen- ty of his fans and critics alike were anxious to see if his latest compositions would reflect it. At first I was skeptical. I had been disillusioned with George Harrison's mixture of religion and music. I feared that the mixture might interfere with Dylan's music also. No chance! Slow Train Com- ing is a brilliant stepping stone in his career. The album opens with Gotta Serve Somebody. In the song Dylan doesn’t preach, but rather, he tells it like it is: You're gonna have to serve somebody Well it may be the devil Or it may be the Lord But you're gonna have to serve somebody : A fine story teller, Dylan con- tinues this tradition with the beautiful ballad, I Believe In You. Reminiscent of his classis, Girl From North Country, his vocals on this particular track make it the most emotional on the entire album. : The ‘most inspiring tune on the album is Precious Angel This powerful song has quite an impact on the listener. Dylan conveys messages about our present human condition and how he was guided by an angel. My so-called friends They've fallen under his spell They look me squarely in the eye And they say well all is well. It's a very forceful song. Back-up on the album is pro- vided by Mark Knofler and Pick Withers of Dire Straits. Knofler's guitar style shines brightly on every track, especially on Slow Train. This is Dylan's most influen- tial work since The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan in 1962. With the fine production team of Jerry Wexler and Barry Becket (producers for Otis Reading and Aretha Franklin), Bob Dylan is still going strong; and there seems to be no end in sight. The title Slow Train Com- ing might be interpreted an an omen. —Joe Raegoso Lion’s Energy Eye Free Car Pool Ads As a service to our readers, the Lion’s Eye would like to help you cope with the current energy situation by offering you FREE CAR POOL ADS in our classified section. D‘Amico cites three sources of disco foot: slippery dance floors, bizarre footware (platform shoes and stiletto heels), and a simple lack of preparation. The doctor notes that dancing is a maximum stress situation and shouldn't be done without warm-up exercises.
