DEL’S QUOTES "Keep on smiling and people will wonder what you're up to!" - Del Tuition To Increase Again An automatic 5 per cent in- crease was included in the 1980-81 budget plan presented to the University Board of Trustees last week at Universi- ty Park. The plan marks the first time the University has ever propos- ed a state appropriations re- quest based upon a predeter- mined tuition increase. In the past, funding requests were for- mulated without a tuition hike included as a source of revenue. Tuition was only raised when the State legislature failed to provide the University with the: | money requested. Under the proposed plan, the 1980-81 budget for general University operations would be $135,619,000. Student Trustee Dave Hickton said he is ‘very much | opposed” to the automatic tui- tion increase. “In previous years the University has always taken the position that there would be no increase.” he said. “That allows ‘us to bargain from: ground zero. With this position we are already starting at 5 per-- cent.” If the legislature continues a 12-year trend of approving ap- propriations quested amount, a further tui- { tion increase would be added to the built-in 5 percent. — The Daily Collegian, . - University Park below the re-] YOUR ADVERTISEMENT COULD BE IN THIS SPOT, BRINGING GOOD RESULTS.
