Siciliano The gentle hum of passing cars floats through my mind, I stare into the clear sky and full moon and as always, I think of you, One light shy and lonely stares back from the emptiness and I follow what lovers and fools have been doing for ages. . . ‘‘Star light, star ‘bright, , ,” My wish, as my thought, is al- ways the same and I smile, hopeful for a moment that by some miracle known as faith it will be answered, And then my first star appears to drop a little, make a left and land at a. nearby airport, Oh well, you were never very romantic anyway, gar and abandoned the boys, Now they are living in foster homes in the Media area and a trust fund has been established for their education,) On another occasion, when the Honduras were hit with catastrophic floods, The Keystone Society held a car wash and sent the money raised to the Honduras Flood Relief Fund, Those are just two of the organizations that Keystone has helped, Keystone has also held numerous soft pretzel sales, a collection for the Easter Seals Society, eged, used book sales (a real ‘break from high book prices), and a Bloodmobile for the Amer- ican Red Cross. THIS YEAR we are starting off with a’ used book sale, This is the way it works, In the first floor hall there is a large piece of poster board. This board has slits cut in it to accommodate 3 x5 cards ONLY, On a 3 x5 card write the name of the book you wish to sell and its author, the edition and the course name, and your name and phone number, Slip this card into the slits. Students desiring to buy books a food collection at Christmas for the underprivil- should then get in touch with the owners personally, Please do not post notices on the bul- letin boards or the walls, In another vein (?), the Key- stone Society is organizing a Bloodmobile for the American Red Cross on Wed,, September 24, 1975, Our goal is to acquire coverage for everyone on campus for one year. To do so we neec 20% of our students, faculty, anc administration to donate, If we don’t reach our goal, each dono: and his immediate family will still receive coverage for the year, Sign up at the end of the registration line, Otherwise, you can stop in to see the nurse anytime in the health office on the first floor of the main building, next to the Study Lounge (where the Bloodmobile will be held). Finally, if you’re interested in helping with any Keystone activities to see what we’re like, you can do so under no obligation whatsoever, Simply leave your name and phorie number with someone in the U.S.A. office, ‘or contact either Dr, Jane Cooper in Rm, 314A or call Jon at SU 9.8564, woss0sss ClUDS Welcome sssesssss oy Ee New Members RIFLE CLUB fi i Tired of wasting your money ~ on those ‘‘shoot-em-down’’ rifle “games in arcades? BY: Susan M, Siciliano Welcome back to PSU Del. Co, all you lucky sophomores and kids who missed their chances at ‘The Park’’, Better luck next term. As for you freshmen (freshpersons?), I know you have plenty to learn about this place and probably already have enough material to re-paper your rooms with, so it might do you some good to meet someone who’s roamed these halls longer than most of us and still hasn’t registered. None other than our dyed-in-the-fur mascot, George, ME: Hey, George! Have you met any of our new recruits? GEORGE: Shh! I’ve been avoiding them since orientation. Don’t blow my cover, ME: Come on. George! These kids need some help. GEORGE: So do I, I think I hurt something my last trip to the modular buildings, ME: The mods? What’s up there? GEORGE: SURVIVAL! LIFE! The basic needs for existence! ME: Gee, I didn’t know you felt that strongly about the bookstore, GEORGE: Books?! I'm talking about my daily occupation, man, Eating! ME: There are other things on campus more important than food, What about classes? GEORGE: Okay, But wait till you’re stuck here from lst to 6th period and the snow’s higher than your tail , , . ME: Only dogs have tails, GEORGE: I don’t know, By some of the reasoning behind the changes around here, I’m beginning to believe that Burger King isn’t the only home of the Whopper! ME: Isn’t that being a little hard? GEORGE: Listen. The only thing I can see that’s HARD is hearing a two-hour lecture over some kid’s grumbling stomach cause he couldn’t make it up and back in 10 minutes, And if he’s got a full day, then it’s gonna be HARD to pick him up off the floor when he passes out, ME: That’s stretching things a little, +E GEORGE: No, that’s stretching things a lot! Like past the third parking lot, ME: I was depending. on you to give these kids advice, not com- plaints, GEORGE: Okay. There’s this new cookbook out called ‘‘How to Serve Man’’, It might solve some problems. The first chapter suggests taking a fat friend to lunch, If you’re not that hungry, take a thin friend, ME: They’re not serious? ; GEORGE: Funny, That’s what I keep saying about things here, ME: Do you have any enlightening words you would like to bestow on us before departing our presence? GEORGE: Stuck with English 3 again, huh? ME: How about some parting words, GEORGE: Life is like a see-saw, It has its ups and downs, but without it, the playground is boring, Chow! Parties, serving as a great outlet for meeting people and a personal source of entertain- ment, are supplied during October and December with the Halloween and Christmas Par- ties, For those who like off-campus fun there are Hay Rides and Road Rallies, In the past there have also been group sales to Spectrum concerts. This year, with a little more student involvement, there iE will be others. Student Activities works for the student and without the student there is nothing, There are many more ideas still in the planning stage and a possible hundred not thought of, Any student wishing to participate, give suggestions, or knowing of anyone who would be good for the Coffee Houses, con- tact Sue Siciliano or Kathy White in the U,S.A, office inthe Modular Building. y, Kids.” THERE'S ALoT OF GREAT STUFF in THE LIONS EVE, Bur 17 foued BE rqor€ INTERE STI0g WITH RESANSET aad.
