Our present Delaware County Campus site is located in the City of Chester, Pa. The city is located on the Delaware River thirteen miles west of Fhiladelphia., With a population of 63,658, and an area of 4,77 square miles, Chester is a third class city, consisting of a mayor and a City Council. Last's week's election's returned the present mayor, Mayor James H. Gorbey, to another four year term. This continued the Republican trend, which has long exlsted in the city. Chester, the oldest town in the state, is of historical sig- nificance $0 our State, - located at the fool of Pern Street, is a marking of William Penn's landing. Chester was formerly called Upland, but it was renamed by William Penn in 1683, The favorable location and excellent shipping facilities of the city have given it a diversity of industries; namely, paper (Beott Paper Co), steel castings (Atlantic Steel Custings To.), metals (Reynolds Metals Co. and Fibre-Metal Products Co.), and shipbuilding (Sun Ship Building and Dry DockCo.), Through theéds go products and many others, Chester has become an important indus= trial city. COMMONWEALTH CAMPUSES OGONTZ: BOMB SCARE The report.of a bomb by an anonymous caller, on Saturday, November 27, prompted the evacuation, of the Sutherland Building. This was the sedond such inéident™ fn the last six months. The caller said that the bomb was in one of the closets in the building standard emergency procedures were enacted immediately and the loc: police was notified. The Director of Security at University Park hag initiated a full investigation of the incident. STUDENT MISCONDUCT Ogontz's second mixer of the Fall term, although a financial success, was followed by many complaints against the student body. A screen, on the second floor of the Lares Building, was broken =~ by students in their illegal attempt to enter the mixer. There were two other major disturbances that evening. One of the decoratative mirror balls suspended from the ceiling, was broken and the most amusing cccurence was when a hundred pound pumpkin was thrown through g second floor window, PL
