Fans and critics muttered in disgust when Writer/Director Kevin Smith announced that he would be returning to the Quick Stop one more time to film a sequel to the greatly hailed Clerks. What was even weirder about filming a sequel that might possibly ruin a vastly respected By Justin Zickar Editor-in-Chief This January Fox’s critically acclaimed drama and one of the best shows on television, 24, is back for its deadliest day yet. Emmy award winner Kiefer Sutherland, along with a star studded cast, returns for what is seen as Jack Bauer’s worst day yet. Season six begins 18 months after the events of season five. America is now in turmoil after its most horrific terrorist attacks in history. David Palmer’s younger brother, Wayne, has become the newest President and is very decisive in stopping the terrorists by any means necessary. With the United States having no clear advantage in stopping the terrorists, their attacks only worsen. When worst comes to worst the Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit, CTU, and Homeland Security begin working furiously to pinpoint the groups responsible. Unfortunately, the weapons at hand aren’t efficient enough. With America in desperation one man is the country’s only hope. At a very high cost, Jack Bauer is In order to help his country Bauer must sacrifice himself to stop the events at hand. We find ourselves wondering where the show could possibly take us this upcoming season. In previous seasons the show has brought fans to their knees with the kidnapping of Jack Bauer, the assassination and impeachment of a President, shooting down Air Force One and all the episode ending cliff hangers. I think it’s safe to say, anything is possible. film was the fact that Smith was attempting to accomplish this 12 years after its original release. Smith decided in order to accomplish this he had to bring the tightly formed original cast back, for one more day of fun. Those who thought they would never see Dante and Randal, or even Jay and Silent Bob grace the silver screen again, thought Randal working at fast food joint Mooby’s and doesn’t hold anything back. Unfortunately, the Quick Stop lives no more following a fire mishap, mostly due to Randal’s own stupidity. Now on his last day of work, Dante must make it out of New Jersey alive after a day full of second thoughts about his fiancée and added pressure from his co-workers and friends. With cameos from Smith’s close friends Ben Affleck and Jason Lee, as well as newcomers Rosario Dawson and Trevor Fehrman joining the cast, Clerks II’s is pA x) and shocking moments. The endless hilarity and crude issues at hand will certainly please the average newcomer just as much as the usual Kevin Smith fans. Clerks II is certainly one of Smith’s finer works to date anid one of the best comedies of 2006. This is a must have for any serious comedy movie collector and would make as a great holiday present too. I-72.
