    York Still Jinx In
53-45 Win Over Locals
The "Flying Dutchmen" of York
Junior College still hold the Indian
sign over the Rudmanites by defeat
ing them for the fourth straight time
in less than two years, 53-45.
In bowing to the lower-enders Ha
zleton dropped its first P.J.C. confer
ence tilt of the season. Bock, the
hawk-eyed York forward, accounted
for sixteen counters and was high
scorer for the night. Johnny Riley,
HUC's speedy captain, led Hazleton
scoring by sinking five double-deck
ers and two free tosses for twelve
markers.
Aiding York's victory was the in
ability of Pete Garber to find the
range of the hoop.
The HUCsters will entertain York
at the A. D. Thomas Memorial gym
nasium on January 14. ,

All Stars Drop
Lead To Heights
The battle for supremacy in the
intra-mural leagues continued this
week. By losing two games in a
row, the league-leading All Stars
have dropped to fourth place and the
Heights A. C. has climbed into first
place. The Aufgabes and Umbrella
Shop are tied for second place. Since
each team in the league is required
to play eleven games, it is still im
possible to predict which team will
come out on top. The league stand
ings as of Monday are as follows:

Umbrella Shop 6
All Stars 5
Misfits 4

HUC Swamps Dubois:
Garber Scores 20
The HUCsters gained sweet re
venge last Saturday night when they
smothered the Dußois Center five,
67-41. Last season the Ducsters
knocked off HUC twice but Saturday
night was an altogether different
story. Led by Pistol Pete Garber,
who banged in 20 points, the Hazle
ton boys took an early lead and
maintained it throughout the game.
The large crowd on hand had little
to cheer about as the best the Dußois
cagers could do was cut the lead to
32-25 at the half. With Garber hit
ting the mark steadily, the locals'
margin grew to 48-29 in the third
period. Hazleton racked up 19 more
points in the final session to win go
ing away.
Statz Laganosky, Johnny Riley,
and Jimmy Munroe also had a big
share in the smooth-working offen
sive of the Rudmanites. This trio ac
counted for 35 tallies. Aside from
being high scorer, Garber also
teamed up with Hutnyan to do yeo
man work on the defense.
Captain Smiley Kokoska and Al
Miller were the best offensive bets
for the home club with 17 points be
tween them. Kokoska and B. Wood
ring led a snappy passing attack for
the losers. The box score:

Jimmy Munroe, ex-HHS court
star, sparked the locals' drive, find
ing the laces for 14 points. Assisting
in the HUC offensive were John Ri
ley and Statz Laganosky, who
racked up 23 points between them.
The most heartening factor in the
fray was the, play of "Pete" Garber,
who had previously been unable to
find the hoop in the Alumni and
York games.
Altoona, paced by DeGraseso, held
an 8-6 lead at the end of the first
period, but soon lost it to the Rud
manites who unleashed a barrage of
scintillating shots to lead by 25-14
at the half. The homesters were
never able to overcome the Hazleton
lead and the Hucsters walked off the
court victorious when the final
whistle sounded.
