HUC Swamps Dubois: Garber Scores 20 The HUCsters gained sweet re venge last Saturday night when they smothered the Dußois Center five, 67-41. Last season the Ducsters knocked off HUC twice but Saturday night was an altogether different story. Led by Pistol Pete Garber, who banged in 20 points, the Hazle ton boys took an early lead and maintained it throughout the game. The large crowd on hand had little to cheer about as the best the Dußois cagers could do was cut the lead to 32-25 at the half. With Garber hit ting the mark steadily, the locals' margin grew to 48-29 in the third period. Hazleton racked up 19 more points in the final session to win go ing away. Statz Laganosky, Johnny Riley, and Jimmy Munroe also had a big share in the smooth-working offen sive of the Rudmanites. This trio ac counted for 35 tallies. Aside from being high scorer, Garber also teamed up with Hutnyan to do yeo man work on the defense. Captain Smiley Kokoska and Al Miller were the best offensive bets for the home club with 17 points be tween them. Kokoska and B. Wood ring led a snappy passing attack for the losers. Assisting in the HUC offensive were John Ri ley and Statz Laganosky, who racked up 23 points between them. The most heartening factor in the fray was the, play of "Pete" Garber, who had previously been unable to find the hoop in the Alumni and York games. Altoona, paced by DeGraseso, held an 8-6 lead at the end of the first period, but soon lost it to the Rud manites who unleashed a barrage of scintillating shots to lead by 25-14 at the half. The homesters were never able to overcome the Hazleton lead and the Hucsters walked off the court victorious when the final whistle sounded. Laganosky, f. Hutnyan, f. Shuptar, f. Riordan, f.
