SPORTSTUFF
The basketball schedule for the
1947-1948 season for the Hucksters

earmarks of being a pretty heavy
one for the locals—Two games with

It will seem like old times to see the
boys back in action at the A. D.
Thomas Gym It wouldn't surprise
us if JOIE APICHELLA were
called upon to guard brother JOHN.
According to reports DON BARNES
is playing intra-mural football at
State College—lf there is a touch of
sadist in you, you may enjoy an af
ternoon packed full of mayhem by
taking in one of the local sandlot
football games.
It's possible that the winner of the
P.J.C.A.A. tournament will enter the
playoffs for the National Junior Col-

lege A.A. championship—According
to COACH RUDIVIAN the North
eastern games will be played some•
where in Connecticut this year --
Incidentally, it was a close game in
which Penn State nosed out Temple,
7-0, last week—The Lions will face
Navy in a major test on Saturday at
Baltimore ELWOOD PETCHEL,
State's fleet tailback, may not start
in the Lions' backfield due to a knee
injury incurred against the Owls last
week Bob Higgins' lads, by the
way, are rated eighth in the nation
by AP writers—Notre Dame, Michi

have been a little self conscious
about those orange cards*because the
very next week they were blue.
We wonder whether MacMILLAN
has found a buyer for that Jamaica
sport jacket To those who have
seen another similar sport coat about
the school, MacMillan 'states that his
coat is entirely different from F. X.
FATSIE'S. Fatsie's jacket is on the
Southwest Pacific camouflage order.
Well, we have to sign off at this
point. See you at the Alumni tilt.
Rudmanites To Face
Alumni November 26
At 8 o'clock Wednesday night,
November 26, the charges of Syd
Rudman will officially open their

several other former local students.
The game, which is open to the
public free of charge, will be •played
on the hardwood of the A. D. Thomas
Memorial Gym, 3rd & Grant streets.
Alumni (h)
Tom Shuptar, of Mt. Carmel, Pa.,
has been selected by Coach Rudman
to hold down the guard berth along
with Jack Riordan.
Tom, who is one of the three team
candidates who hail from Mt. Carmel,
is 'a first semester freshman majoring
in Chemical Engineering. He played
three years with Mt. Carmel High
School.
Shuptar stands at an even six feet,
is a - bulwark on defense and is an
excellent team-worker. He is counted
on to hold opposing forwards of a
minimum of scoring.
