Big 10
Bound!!
by Tony Guzzardo
Sports Editor
The Atlantic 10 has
hosted 13 Penn State
varsity sports
programs, except
football. In December
of 1989, to the
surprise of many Penn
Staters, Including
myself, the University
athletic program
decided It was time
for a change. That
change was a jump into
the conference called
the BIG 10.
One of the main
issues concerning this
move was money. The
Penn State athletic
programs are supported
by football revenue.
The Jump to the Big 10
would give the
football team more
national exposure and
possible bowl bids,
including the Rose
Bowl, which could
bring us tremendously
more amounts of
revenue. In this
respect it's a good
idea.
Sports Editors note:

Lions are 6-7 overall and 2-0 in the confer
ence, with wins over Penn State Worthington
Scranton and Penn State Delaware campuses.
Our Lions will host Penn State York cam
pus on Wednesday January 17th, for which
promises to be an exciting game since both
teams are 2-0 and the winner would take the
over the top spot in the conference stand
ings.
So far Chris Bigger, Brian Blllig, and
Joe Clark have been the triple threat
offensively with double figure season
scoring averages.
Clark has also been the most consistent
from the foul line, hitting better than
85% of his free throws.
Bigger and Billig have been the most con
sistent from the field, both hitting 44% of
their shots.
Along with Bigger, Billig, and Clark,
Frank Coslett, and Brian Powell round out
the starting five.
Frank Coslett, the Lions starting cen
ter, averages 7 paints a game and is a
dominating force under the boards, while
Powell averages 8.7 points a game.
Shawn Hackman and Dave Blauch provide
the scaring off the bench.
The Lions need your support for the up
coming conference games!! Come out and
support your team! !
