Those are Pal Joey's (sporting goods), Hanover Shoes, and what was to real shocker, Hometown Now, that was the recent past and we all know good and well we're taught to look into the future. Let me guide you into the realms of the future of the Laurel Mall. As I am writing this, plans are now being made to add a new wing on to the Laurel Mall. Due to confidentiality, lam not allowed to disclose the stores that might be coming into that wing, however, a new department store had been added to close that wing off. J.C. Penney's and Sears are good possibilities. One eat out/in place, that everyone was told would move in four months ago, that might move into the new wing is Dino's. Lion Ambassadors Lion Ambassadors are at the Hazleton Campus! The goal of a Lion Ambassador is to help students, alumni, and friends of the University realize that their involvement with Penn State can and should be a lifetime experience. The objectives of the Lion Ambassador Program are to promote Penn State, its interests, and goals among future and current students, alumni, and friends. Applications are open to full-time students who have at least a second semester standing, a 2.5 grade point average, and are able to participate in the program for minimum of two semesters. Membership shall be based on the applicants interest and enthusiasm for Penn State, Lion Ambassador time availability, leadership qualities and potential. If you are interested in becoming a Lion Ambassador, see Cy Falatko or Shirley Knelly for further information. Show your Penn State pride by becoming a Lion Ambassador! All this is the unpredictable future many years down the road. There are some stores and eateries that will be ready for business within the month. Those are Cinnabuns (specializing in cinnamon rolls and other cinnamon tempties), the soon to be newly refurbished Junior Colony (clothing for teenagers and young ladies), and Megavideo, which is a very popular video establishment from the Allentown area. Most of the changes in the mall will not happen for many years and, therefore, we probably won't be here to see them. I do think though that these changes will help the economy for Hazleton and the Penn State Hazleton Campus as it tries to establish itself as a possible candidate for the transition from a two year campus to a four year college. Employment opportunities will become abundant as the new stores open up which will give students more chances to Interact with the Hazleton residents. the Highacres Coiiegi Best Buns II Page 5
