I"m the Director of Citizens Committee of Inquiry, a group which we formed two years ago in Washington just for the purpose oflhattihg the Co ngress establish a House j think that it essential Lane; I think that we are committee to reinvestigate f or the well-being of this coun- going to find out in the next the facts surrounding the try that the investigation go year or so who killed John F. assasina ion of President forth and I urge everyone to Kennedy and why he was killed ennedy and I ye worked for send- letters and telegrams to Who killed Martin Luther King at or a couple of years and their representatives in Congress and why he was killed. And wlr when that happened on September and especlally to Thomas P. I think his decision i n the next few days. to mislead the Warren Commiss: record in seyeenteen years m And why those agencies have the District's Attorney's of- hidden the facts about those, ice in Philadelphia is out- two mur( jers from the American standing but above all his people investigation of the Yablon ski murder case which led to the conviction of those involved was probably the classic investigation of a conspiracy to Commit murder in the recent history of this country and I think there is no person better qualified. He and his committee has al ready uncovered extremely im portant evidencebut I think" there is a veryserious question whether or not the Congress will allow this committee to function when Congress con venes in January of this year. Hie committee had to be restablished or it would die and Congress has not yet re established the committee and the reason for this is because of the persistent counterat tack upon the committee by the C.I.A. and the F. 8.1. accord ing to Jack Anderson's column yesterday. They have circulat ed false and derogatory infor mation about Sprague and members of the committee because in itially they made an effort to control the work of the commit and when Sprague was not going to al low the C.I.A. and the F. 8.1., two of the suspect organizat ions, serving in regardsto the destruction of evidence and perjury of the Warren Commision and in this in formation it is clear that OF WASHINGTON CORRUPT SAYS LANE Snfantiewb itcme ALL NOT By Elliot Grossman Sprague was not going to allow those organizations to run the investigation for him, then those organiza tions turned on him and his com mittee. So thereis a very ser ious question as to whether the investigation will go forth. COLLEGIAN: When the House looks into a committee they do a pretty thorough investigation. Why would the House members allow the false allegations by the CIA and the FBI to have any influence upon them? Lane: Because many of the members of Congress are vulnerable to those spy agencies. For example we now know that approximatedly 150 members of Congress accepted funds from the Korean C.I.A. and in most cases that was illegal.and was not re ported. The host of the Korean C.I.A. in the U.S. is the American C.I.A. For years the C.I.A. has known who in Congress could be exposed and who could be prosecuted. Very likeky at least removed from office or not reelected. And therefore the C.I.A. with that kind of power goes to a member of Congress and says we don't want you to vote for the Select Committee on Assasination, you can say it is too expensive or whatever. That means a lot to the members of Congress. We have seen the power of the C.I.A. just a few days ago when President Carter choose Ted Sorenson to be Director of the C.I.A. and the C.I.A. said,"no'.' In essence they said, 'no we don't want him,we don't want anyone to meet the com mitments that Carter made dur- ing his campaign to reform thi C.I.A. to stop illegal, cover! operations by the C.l.A'.' COLLEGIAN:If the House does approve the bill to allow the Select Committe to fun ction, what do you expect will result? COLLEGIAN: What imi you think that finding out who killed Kennedy will have on the nation? Lane: I think that it might help to restore democracy to the country. I think that will be a very good thing. Democracy controlled by the people,of the government through its elected repre sentatives, COLLEGIAN: You said that highly admire. Richard Sprague Why do you think that his committee will do any better of a job than the Warren Commission which had notab les on it such Chief Justice Warren and Gerald R. Ford?
