The key to success lies in the talent of the incoming freshmen, which according to Coach Cacesse, is excellent. An example of the new talent is Mike Karhs, a Pennsylvania All- State high school selection. Although a lot of starters were lost, the amount of fresh men talent should fill the gaps. Under Coach Diedre Jago, the girls have been learning many of the basic skills needed to play power volleyball, but the team is faced with the problem of inex perience. Many of the girls have limited or no experience at team volleyball. The team is not used to functioning as a unit. The girls are just meeting and don't know each other's style yet. There are only two returning players, Tricia Lawler and Gayle Zimmerman. Also the lack of indoor prac tice facilities have hurt the team. Some practices have had to be cancelled because of in clement weather and the girls cannot practice "rolling" on the blacktop. For strength, Coach Jago is looking to the experienced play ers to lead the others and ex pects a boost from the com petitive spirit the girls have acquired through their partici pation in other sports. "It's pretty tough to say what our chances are. It will depend on the competition. In the past, the competition has been keen. If we meet a team that has returning players for half their starting line-up, I don't know how we'll do. "The girls are not ready for their first game yet. We still need to pick a team captain and the starting line-up must be decided. I don't want to say we'll have a good season or a bad one. It will depend on the competition."
