PENN STATE Check Book Cover at the Miners Bank NO MINIMUM BALANCE when you open a THRIFTY in CHECK ACCOUNT FOUR FALL SPORTS '7l The Hazleton Campus Soccer team won its first soccer game against Dubois I Campus. Tony Visandri 'and U. Sriuthal had one and three goals respectively. Then the Highacres soccer team traveled to Abington to take on the Ogontz Campus I Soccer Team. Ogontz and Hazleton had a hard fought first half in which Hazleton was down 2 to 1. In the third period Ogontz took advantage of a few Hazleton mistakes and converted them into goals. The final score was Ogontz 7 and Hazleton 3. Yet Hazleton, only having their team for the second year, went out and faced the Scranton Campus team at home and scored their second shutout of the season by the score of 2 to 0. The two Hazleton goals were scored by Bill Hewins and Carl Buchanan. After coming off a well I earned win the soccer team ran into the Mont Alto Campus team which has been in existence for three to four years. The team put up a tough fight but nevertheless lost by the score of 7 to 0. . After looking back over the games played this season Coach Ronald Biggers I commented,"l feel if we can win this game (York) on Saturday we will have a decent season (.500)." Since actually this is only the first year Hazleton engaged in a soccer I game with other campuses we must admit they have done an excellent job. Next year we have the feeling that Coach Mr. Biggers said that for anybody interested in wrestling this year, there will be a meeting Tuesday, Nov. 2 during the 4th period. There will be three matches and a commonwealth tournament this year. Ted Horn, a wrestler formerly of West Hazleton, will participate in the York Wrestling Tournament. Mrs. Hoffman is sponsoring girls intramural volleyball. For any girl interested there will be a meeting Tuesday, Nov. 2, during the 1 1 4th period. I Intramural football had its first few games nullified because each I team had 9 referees. Also another tidbit on sports is a big time sport in the dorm. This I is rocket making. I think they have a reason there. If we are understanding and strong and free I do not think we have to fear any expression or prevent any expression. Jury, what do you have to say, what do you want to write, or are you already afraid? Shall we free our John Peter Zengers? Or shall we ourselves become one day imprisones, persecuted John Peter Zengers? Zenger was freed in August, 1735. His news went to print. Ever since then, news has gone to print in America. I am not afraid of papers and words. I am afraid of force. Andrew Hamilton defended Zenger in that case. Hamilton said,"The loss of liberty to a generous mind is worse than death." I agree. Let the "Guerilla" go to press. Jury give your verdict. Kathryn J. A. Dixon Student and free American Sir: Bravo! Thank you so much for the interesting and in formative article,"Drug Bust." If I had been involved in an actual "bust",l probably would have acted in the same manner as "Mr. X." I never realized that in order to enter a person's home, a policeman must have a search warrant. Without a warrant, a person may refuse the officer the right to enter. The information in this article certainly reduced my fear of the all powerful and all mighty police. Marietta Sist , Dear Editor I am writing to you to express my disapproval of the $7.50 parking fee at this campus. Each student who parks his car on campus parks at his own risk. The campus is not responsible for any damages to the cars. No special services are provided besides the one policeman who patrols the campus grounds and parking lots. We have no choice as to parking in the upper or lower lots. But everyone pays the same fee, even though it involves different walking distances. I feel that the $7.50 fee is justified during the winter term because of the high cost of plowing, salting and cindering of the parking lots. But the fall and spring fees should be reduced considerably. If this letter is published please withhold my name. N ame Witheld Dear Sir: I want to call to your attention a matter that I observed on Thursday, Oct. 14,1971. Wile sitting in the SUB lounge watching the World Series between the Pittsburg Pirates and the Baltimore Orioles, I observed that the television set is no longer in proper working order. The picture is dull and dark and the faces of the people are not clearly visible. It was hard to tell one' player another because the picture was dark. I hope that the set will be repaired so that any future events that will come up may be viewed by the students without difficulty of seeing. 'burs truly, Michael Kelchak FREE MOVIE ! SIZES 5 TO 15 Dear Sir I do not find the University's parking facilities completely unsatisfactory, although I do think they cai use some improvement. Paying P. 50 to use the upper parking lot isn't bad. But when you have to park at the bottom of the hill I think this price is too much. The price should be dropped for those who use the lower lot. Or else have parking on the first cbme first serve basis. I don't think it is right to pay the same price for parking and be restricted to the lower lot.
