Connie Belletiere and Mary Lou Zukovich SEVEN HONOR STUDENTS INITIATED INTO PARNASSUS The PARNASSUS SOCIETY, which was first formed at Highacres in 1952, recently_hei? initiation ceremonies in the Union Buildii lounge. Seven outstanding students. from the Hazleton Campus were initiated into Parnassus by ''placing their names in the honorary member book of the society. The seven students are these: Johanna Barkocy, Connie Belletiere, and Bernice Mulik, medical technology students; Donata Matteo, arts and letters; Gerald Bogert, engineering; Francis Demara, electrical technology; and Richard Clease secondary education. In addition, thirteen freshman student. were pledged into PARNASSUS at the initia ceremonies. They ere the following: Richard Adami, Carmella Bangor, Richard Bertolini, Loren Bittr.er, Horry Defina, Nancy Frye, June Getz, Robert Krutsick, Art Marsicano, Paul Miller, Grace uatnaize Richard Swank, and Albert Tencza. Alter the ceremonies were concluded, a meeting was held for the election of officers. Steve Giadis was elected President, Bernard Bartos, Vice-President Connie Belletiere, Secretary; and Richard Clemack, Treasurer. These sophomores will serve on PARNASSUS until the end oi this semester. In June, another election will probably take place. Also, PARNASSUS initiated plans at . the meeting for a picnic to be held this June. Refreshments were served after the meeting. Miss Garbrick, Mr. Esher, Mrs. Bodenstein, and Mr. Schneider were the faculty members present at -the affair. MAY OUEEN GROANED The Hazleton Campus crowned iualr own May Oueen on the thirteenth of May in the afternoun celebration.. This day of much festivity ended with a dance that evening in the Union Building with music by Lee Vincent. Not only was the dance well attended by students, but a number of the faculty appeared with the! dates. The Oueen, Connie Belletiere, as she appears in the picture is being crowned the 1960 Queen, Mary Lou Zukovich.
