p W Tiii s year the College Arts Society presented four films to the Highacres' student body. The presentation of these films not only enriched and varied the program of activities that High acres offers its students, but it brought some of the films to this area for the first time. The first College Arts presentation was The Tales of Hoffman, basod .on the opera by Jacques Offenbach, and danced by Moira Shearer and a distinguished company of artists. This film was very success ful in the larger cities of this country, but was never shown in thi.! area previous to the College Arts presentation. Also presented were Annapurna, a film based on the best sell ing . book by Maurice Herzog, and the film adaption of the immortal Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens. The College Arts Society pre sented all films free of charge in the Lounge in the main building. Looking forward to next year, one film the College Arts Society hopes to show is The Gate of Hell, a Japanese film that has received a great deal of critical acclaim for its magnificent photography and novel use of color.
