May 13 i 1955 Aftor such a fine and enjoyable affair a-s the House Rules Committee held on Wednesday afternoon, wo defin itly want to congratulate them Jim Ditaler, Bob Bore, Don Kellner, Russ Brungard, Mary Jane Skoff, Li-i. Junas, and their advisor, Mrs* "K"? for q well planned job... To Mrs* Smith goes a big thanks for preparing the food, that is, making the Bar B-Q and ordering the rest Of the goodies, Close to a hundred or more students and faculty members stopped by for a snack and some birch beer* As the food \ was being quickly consumed, a gang of energetic students were enjoying th eras el IT on the ball diamond, tennis court, and Vjw _ basketball court. Others just sat aroun taking in the sun and "chewing the fat," All the comments that were heard after the picnic were rewarding, and we. are sorry that more of you couln f t come to share the fun with us* If we were having a model show, Bobby Bove surely would have taken the grand prise. You had to loo] twice to see what it wqs under that flat, golf cap, which shadowed a growing shad, on his face. Although only four girls stayed, everyone mixed together in ball games and tennis —girls and boys, We only regret that we could nou have spent more time at the field, but due to classes and other school work.it. was impossl Now the precedent is established, This was the FIRST Picnic~Field Day and i went over swell, so you freshmen who will be here next year, remember the fun we all had on Wednesday and you may make this an annual affair. It takes a lot of running around— on foot and on the truck—— but it was all part of the fun. "Hats to the House Rules Committee" on their splendid jobs Now that spring is here and the flowers and trees are sprouting,a problem aris Everyone likes flowers. They like to look at them* they like to smell them; and tl like to pick them. But here at Highacres, the flowers and tress that surround our Campus are necessary for its beauty. If there were no shrubbery and plants around, the place would look dead. It»s a temptation to pick the beautiful laurels, but PLEASE try to refrain from doing so o Keep beauty in Highacres by leaving the flow! and buds where they are, and appreciate their beauty by looking at them. Tour co operation will be greatly appreciated. A ,BEGUN HAZrgTON COL HATS_CF’n PLEASE! J Page 4
