... the enemy pressed the attack with all the cunning that is taught
to people of this sort from generation to generation. Our hero was slowly
retreating to home ground. To relieve the pressure of this endless onslaught,
our hero called for a truce and made a peace offering in the form of a gold
band to the enemy. This, however, did not satisfy the enemy and the battle
was resumed once more with such ferocity that our hero was forced to retreat
not only to home ground, but to the court house. Here on that memorable
day, another truce was signed and our hero made another offering to the
enemy in the form of a second gold band. The results of this great battle
were as follows:
In St. Peter and Paul Church in Pofetsville, on January 29, 1955, Miss
Virginia Hubay became a bride. According to the reports, the bride was
dressed in a black costume suit trimmed with mink and wore with this, a
pink hat and a corsage of pink orchids.
The groom wore . Why is it that no one is ever interested in
what the groom wore?
After the ceremony and reception, the bride and groom spent their
honeymoon touring New York City.
The hero of this story is none other than our own Brother Richard
Knowlton, who is a student here at Highacres.
At the weekly meeting of Mu Delta Sigma held on Wednesday, February
16, James Russell, a native of Carbondale, was accepted into the organization.
‘Jim’, another member of the PL 550 Club, served four years with the United
States Navy and is presently enrolled under the Mechanical Engineering
curriculum here at the Center.
Students who have not purchased all their books needed for this
semester, should do so within the next few days. Preparations are
being made in the Bookstore to return unsold copies to the publishers.
If students do not get their books now, they may not be available
when the students desire to get them.
Captain Carper announced that the fencing classes will meet during
the same periods as last semester : ninth period on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Any new members will be welcomed and - naturally ** all old members
are urged to attend.
