Your reparter found Sam st his usual place in the cafeteria lunch line. Reporter: Hi, Sam.. How's the line moving today? Sam: Oh, about the same. A foot every hour or so. Rep: Do you mind if I ask you some questions and put your answers in the campus paper? Sam: No, go right ahead; it will give me something to read while I wait in line here. Rep: Good. First of all, how old are you, San? Sam: Eighty-six, Bob. I'll be eighty-seven in January. Boy, that sire is old to be going to college. Haw old were you when you started? Nineteen. Rep: Nineteen??? What have you been doing for tie last sixty-seven years? Sam: Yothing, just standing here in this lunch line. Someday I. going to get there. I'm sure you will, Sam. Sam: I hope so; I thought I was going to make it once during the Second World War, but then some kids got in front of me and I lost two years. Rep: I'll tell you what, Sam; know that kid up in front of the line, and I'm sure he'd let you in ahead of him. , Sam: Would you really do that? That's been the dream of my life. I'd finally be able to die happy. Sam, a new look of hope in his eyes, staggered up to the front of the line just in time for the cook to put a sign on the door, "Outto Lunch." Oh, well next time you're in the cafeteria stop and say hello to Sam. He needs a friend. READERS FORM WORKSHOP High on the list of activities are the Behrend Readers. Susan Lan caster, Carol De Arment and George Miller participate in a weekly workshop Thursdays at common hour in Room ;20. Mrs. Falkenhagen, their advisor, is now discussing various speech techniques with members. Studying with them in the workshop are "new" readers: Valerie Rodak, Ronald Batchelor, John Prettyman and Wayne Sasala. Sue Lancaster Will represent the Readers November sth in East Stoudsburg, Pa. at the Sixth Annual Oral Reading Festival at East Stroudsberg State Teachers College.
