Wrestling This past weekend, the Behrend wrestlers traveled to York to participate in the annual York Junior College Wrestling Tourna mente Representing Behrend were: 115 123 iiL•• - 130 152 # - 160 - 157 .: - 177 #-- - Terry Kunick captured the 115-pound championship. Kunick drew a bye in the first round and defeated Charles Fraught (York) 6 - 0 in- the second round. In the final, Terry came up against Sheldon Morgan of Key stone. 7 .unick won the match 9-4. Observers felt it was one of the best amtches of the tourney. Pat Steadman captured a second place at 130 pounds. Miter winning his first match 9-1, Steadman lost to Ron Barnett (York) 3-0, Jeff Vieyra also captured a second place. Vieyra beat Bill Sandoe (York) 6-4 in his first match but was pinned by John Burke of Keystone in his other match. Bill Bundy scored a fourth place win at 177 pounds. Behrend had a total of 31 team points, good for third place. York, the winner, had 99 points while 7 .eystone followed with 36. Congratulations to the wrestling team and Mr. Feightal for a fine job. Basketball Last weekend the Cubs finished out a great season adding two more victories for a 14-5 record. Friday, Behrend traveled to Dyke College and came back with a big 113-78 victory. Playing one of the best games of the season, the Cubs had five men in double figures. Joe Williams playing a little more than half of the game 4it for 27 points, 24 in the first half. He also pulled down an amain; 30 rebounds. Dan Casane, playing one of his best games of the SPnRTS Terry Kunick dill Stranahan Pat Steadman Denny Hoover Jeff Vieyra Terry Lamb Daryll Collins ill Bundy year, collected 25 points and played an outstanding floor game. Tom Taylor turned in another good relief performance getting 12 points an d 14 rebounds. Ron Rornyak and Barney Etzel added 12 points each. Behr end hosted McKeesport Saturday add won easily 101-66. Even though not playing as well as Friday, the Cubs still had little trouble as Joe Williams scored 25 points and collected 24 re bounds. :::on Hornyak had 20 points while Dan Casane had 18. Barney Etzel played on of his usual fine games as he hit for 17 points. Etzel played con sistent ball in the second half of the season, scoring in double figures nine out of ten games. It is no eworthy that in the last six games Behrend has scored 600 points. Also two weeks ago Ron Hornyak and Joe Williams were given the WJET player of the week award for their play against Altoona and Dußois; a real honor for tow real good basketball players. The Cubs lea e Thursday to play in a Junior College Tournament in York. Colleges participating are: York, Point Park, Johnstown, Pierce, Altoona, Dubois and Behrend. Rehrend will probably play Johnstown in the first game at 7:30 P.M. Friday. If we win we play York. Coach Sweeting expects the game Friday to be a close contest.
