The gas-light is to be supplied on a principle en tirely new here—thirty-six " bull eyes " being placed in the arched ceiling, each eye being so adjusted as to reflect its light upon a certain portion of the floor below. The seats are slightly circular, and are constructed of solid walnut, as are also the doors, gallery for the choir, casing of the organ, etc. The windows are being sup. plied with the most beautiful stained glass. The main doors are to be hung on hinges which will admit of their being shoved open from the in side as well as the outside. The entire building has been constructed throughout with regard to comfort, safety, and elegance, as well as architec tural effect, and is highly creditable to the taste and liberality of the congregation. When com pleted and furnished, a grand sacred concertwill be given, for the purpose of testing the power and effect of the new organ, and giving musical amateurs an opportunity , to judge of its merits. —The Presbyterian Banner. San Francisco.—Sunday afternoon, August 16, the church edifice of the Weatminster church, in Hayes' valley, which has been building since April, and has cost not quite $4,000, was solemn ly dedicated. Rev. Dr. Scudder preached a very appropriate sermon, and other clergymen of the city took part in the services, all of which were both interesting and short. Rev. J. N. Hurd is the acting pastor of the church, and by his en deavors, in a great measure, the present success has been achieved. No burden of debt 'remains upon the church, which is in a flourishing condi tion. The house is sufficiently, large.for the,pre sent necessity of the church, but is designed for ultimate use as a chapel and Sunday-school ?Qom, as the society have a large lot on which, ,they hope, in time, to erect a church that shall accom modate many more people. MINISTERIAL: --Rev. Wm., 9 , C. :Scofield, for three years pastor of the Central Presbyterian church of Newark, N. J.,,aoeept,s the earnest in vitation of his former charge at Fort Atkinson, and will enter upon hia labors the first Sabbath in October.— The Advance (Gong). Rev. Al. Kieffer, D.D.—At the recent meeting of Tiffin (Ger. Ref.) Classis, this gentleman was dismissed to join Huron Presbytery. The , :2Ztf. Church Messenger says s " We. regret that any circumstances should have occurred to induce the Rev. Dr. Kieffer to sever his connection with the Reformed Church; but we are satisfied, from our knovvledge of his character, that the transfer 'of his Church rotations has not been made without due consideration." Rev. S. P. Whiting has accepted a call from the First church, Mendocino, Cal , to become their pastor, declining a call from an 0. S. church in the same State. Rev. E. B.
