Late Game Victory for Penn State Harrisburg Men's Basketball Penn State Harrisburg men's basketball team make a late game run for the 67-63 win against the visiting Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill. The Nittany Lions snap their five game losing streak and improve to 8-14 on Seniors Go All Out For Last Home Game of the Season Penn State Harrisburg women's basketball team produced two outstanding performances by their seniors on senior night. SUNY Cobleskill came in the game on the season with the Fighting Tigers falling to 7-13 overall. Eight minutes in the first half the blue and white went 1-for -7 from the field, only scoring three points to the Tigers' ten. Penn State Harrisburg clawed their way back within two, four times but could not grab the lead. The blue and white finish the half on a 5-0 run to bring them within one, 34-33. The second half featured seven ties and 11 lead changes. With 2:42 remaining, Tigers' Andrei Lucas hits a three point to put SUNY Cobleskill up by seven. Freshman Rhett Sheibley (Northern/ Dillsburg, PA) drained a three pointer of his own to bring the a 16 game winning streak, beating their last three opponents by a total score or 183-109 The Fighter Tigers still managed to pull out the victory with a late game jump shot from Gina Parillo with: 16 remaining to seal the deal. This is the blue and whites third lost in a row putting them at 10- 13 on the season , with the Fighting Tigers increasing their win streak to 17 and a 17-4 record. In their first match up, SUNY Cobleskill scored an amazing 42 points to Penn State Harrisburg's 24 in the first half shooting 57.1 percent to the Lady Lions' 34.6 percent. This match-up would prove to be quite the different for the blue Kenton Alston goes too far with referee and gets a technical foul blue and white within four. With 1:14 to go and the Tigers up by three, 63-60, junior Cole McGuire (Susquenita/Duncannon, PA) hits his third three ofthe game to tie the ballgame. Then with 20 seconds remaining, freshman Kenton Alston(Steelton-Highspire/ Steelton, PA) deflected a SUNY Cobleskill pass to teammate Sheibley. SUNY Cobleskill fouled McGuire quickly for two shots. McGuire would make both free throws, 65-63. The Tigers last position resulted in a McGuire steal and and white shooting 45.5 percent from the field, 57.1 percent from behind the arc and a percent 7- for-7 from the charity stripe. Despite their great first half the Lions still trailed by three, 34-31 The second half featured two teams battling back and forth changing leads six times throughout the half. With 1:33 remaining, senior Sandra Adames (Pontiac Northern/ Pontiac, MI) put the Lady Lions up by four and Lion's looked posed for the upset win. After a timeout by the Fighting Tigers, Parillo hit a three-point field goal to bring them within one. two more free throws to ensure the 67-63 victory. Penn State Harrisburg was led by McGuire with 19 points. He shot 5-for -9 from the field, 3-for-6 from beyond the arc and 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. Alston had another outstanding defensive game with eight blocks as well as scoring 13 points with three rebounds and four assists. Sophomore Shane Woodman (Donegal/ Mt. Joy, PA) chipped in with 10 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Sophomore Cameron Nedd (Charles Herbert Flowers/Largo, MD) helped out with eight Following a missed three-point attempt by Lady Lion, Amaris Gardner (BaysideNirginia Beach, VA), Parillo came through again with another jump shot to put them up by one. The Lady Lions would get one last shot and with no hesitation from senior Krystal Miranda (Bound Brook/S. Bound Brook, NJ), who had already made four threes in the game, she took one last three point shot. The miss gave the Fighting Tigers the 62-59 victory. Adames led Penn State Harrisburg with 21 points. She shot 8-for-12 from the field and 5-for-6 from the charity stripe. Adames also grabbed 12 boards and block two shots. Miranda went 6- for-13, 4-for-8 behind the arc, with 16 points, four rebounds and two assists. Freshman Dorothea Dixon (Middletown/Middletown, PA) chipped in with eight points off of 4-of-5 shooting SUNY Cobleskill was led by Taiquan Newkirk with 25 points, 11 rebounds and three steals. Lucas finished with 12 points and three rebounds. Kevin Mitchell and Damion Longmore but accumulated seven points each in the Fighting Tigers lost.
