Pete Sky Ala —Row*B In the past couple of weeks our lives have been dra matically changing more than ever on a daily basis. Our coun try is at war. Our friends and family may be serving with our nation's finest, protecting our freedom. Some fighting the bat tles within our own borders, protesting the war with Iraq and the wrongs they believe are being committed by our govern ment. You will find by reading any of the numerous newspa pers available or watching the countless news programs, that not everything is being shown to you, that there is a ton of propaganda at work. You will also see biased news stations telling you what their owners or the government wants you to know. The Capital Times doesn't have the luxury of sending reporters out in the field, though features editor and foreign correspondent Marko Primorac is among the dozens of PSH students called up. We may be a liberal or conservative newspaper and our arti cles are the works of the student body, letting a few of the PSH voices be heard. What is published does not reflect the feelings and attitudes of Penn State Harrisburg or even PSUcollectively. There have been no pro-war or pro-peace demonstrations on our cam pus, but there are likely to have been many heated debates among students and faculty. What it all comes down to is that our country is at war, our troops of fighting for our freedom and the freedom of others. It doesn't matter at this point if you are for or against the war; all that matters is that you support the troops. Next time you are in class, look at the empty seats where your fellow class mates have sat weeks ago, think about them and what they are going through, fighting in a foreign country to protect people they do not know. Think about what they are thinking while you are sitting in a classroom, shielded from the outside world, worrying about what projects or papers you have due this week. Keep those plucked from our campus and everywhere else in our country in your thoughts and prayers. The XGl's have set up donation stations throughout Olmsted to gather dry goods, clothes, magazines, books, and other items that can be sent out to our troops. Clubs like the SGA have allocated monies for the purchase of such goods for donation. Every little bit helps. Another pressing issue in the last couple of weeks is the problems Pennsylvania universities are going to be facing in the next few weeks." Rumors have been flying around campus since the last tuition hike that there will be yet another rise in tuition for the next semester. According to a report in the Thursday, March 27th edition of the Patriot News, state university funding has been cut. The funds needed for four of the state universities, including Penn State , comes to an amount of about $7OO million dol lars. Looks like tuition will be on the rise. My advice to you, keep your GPA up, keep your credit good, and be prepared to take out a bigger loan in the coming semesters. Those of us about to graduate and looking towards graduate school had better get good jobs to pay off our current student loans and to be able to afford obtaining a masters'. Good luck to all of us. On a lighter note, this is the Capital Times annual April fools edition. This means that some of the articles in this issue are fictional, as are some of the police reports and calendar events. Most fictional items will be marked as such. If you have any questions or comments, please contact the Capital Times.
