Penn State University, as a whole, then requested funds from the State to perform the necessary renovations. Penn State Harrisburg's request was for $3.2 million to make changes in order to comply with ADA regulations. adopted the philoso phy that they would accommodate wherev er necessary. The EAB building has restrooms that are accessible to disabled people. A number of other things have been done: • SGA President Duane Brooks wrote a letter to University Park about Renee Reedy's problems with access to the restrooms in the Olmsted build ing. As a result, the University Access Committee has acted on his letter. • The committee has a pool of funds to be used for critical problems. A portion of those funds has been allocated to PSH for renovations of the men's and women's restrooms on the first floor of the Olmsted Building. Those bath rooms will be gutted and made in compli ance with ADA. • The third floor women's restroom will be made into two sepa- CAPTIMES, April 23,1996 Right rate restrooms, one single stall for men and one single stall for women. All restroom construction should be complete by the end of this summer. • The design of the "library of the future" will meet every ADA requirement. • The braille sig- nage in the men's and women's restrooms and the stairtowers is in compliance with ADA regulations. • There is a lift in the auditorium which enables wheel- chair-users to get on the stage. • There is an elevator in the EAB building, the CUB and the Olmsted building to comply with ADA regulations for two story buildings.
