"The Power of Love" - Huey Lewis and The News - This is one of those rare times when the best song actually get to number one. If this one doesn't get you moving, you've got a hole in. your soul. Huey does it without a dress or makeup. ********************** 2. "Shout" - Tears For Fears - This is not as good as their first single from the Lp "Songs from the Big Chair" entitled "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" but it's still good. Lead singer Roland Orzabal sounds like an intellectual snob in his interviews, but we'll try not to hold that against him. Eg gheads are people too! .********************** 3. "Never Surrender" - Cor ey Hart - It's bad enough that he lifted his intro for "Sunglasses at Night" from the Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (are made of this)," but this totally monotonous piece could put anybody to sleep. How long can he get by on good looks alone? Longer than me. ********************** 4. "St. Elmo's Fire(Man in Motion)" - John Parr - A great song by the man with the big gest chin in pop music. If he marries Katrina of Katrina and The Waves, their child would have a bigger chin than Kirk Douglas or even Dudley Dooright. ********************** 5. "Freeway of Love" - Aretha Franklin - This has been a year for old R&B women (Tina Turner,Patti Laßelle). I think this is the best thing Aretha has done in 15 years. Get up and shake your booty. 6. "We Don't Need Another Heor" - Tina Turner - Why do all white women want to be like Tina ? Whatever the reason the real Tina is one of a kind. Since she got hold of some good original material' she's been really able to strut her stuff. ********************** 7. "Summer of '69" - Bryan Adams - Another in a line of consistent good things from Adams. He's never great but he's always good, and this is typical. ********************** 8. "Everytime You Go Away" - Paul Young - I love all types of soul music. Whether it's the real thing with Aretha or Tina,or the Hall and Oates type of blue-eyed soul, I love them all. Young succeeds in do ing this Daryl Hall, song better than the original. ********************** 9. "What About Love" Heart - I think lead singer,Ann Wilson has the best pipes in rock. Maybe this terrific group will finally get their just recognition. By Alan Pincus ********************** 10. "You Spin Me Round" - Dead or Alive - Have you seen lead singer, Pete Byrnes yet? He looks like a transvestite ver sion of Captain Hook. However, if this great song doesn't get you pounding the dashboard you're probably legally dead.
