Capitol grad cited for jumprope folklore study By Michele S. Haley Dean Lapp, a June ’B3 graduate of Capitol Campus, has recently received the William Wells Newell Prize for the best student paper on children’s folklore. The $lOO award was presented at the annual meeting of the American Folklore Society in Nashville on October 28, by Priscilla Orde, President of the Children’s Section of the Society. Lapp’s prize-winning paper was a computer analysis of children’s jumprope rhymes and was com pleted as an independent study under the direction of Dr. Simon J.
