Because Jake has been incarcerated, the band's repertoire consists of 60s music, which doesn't exactly satisfy the wild people at the joints which have since gone country and western. Clearly they need a new approach. Encouraged and supported by the populace of the orphanage for whom the money is being raised, they plan a successful concert at the civic center. From there the plot takes off, with mad chases, escapes from the law, and other "Our Gang Comedy" touches. Although the comedy is about as subtle as a train wreck, the music is very good---pulsating rhythm and blues. Wait till you hear them perform the theme song from the TV series "Rawhide." I'm still laughing! This is definitely a movie to see if you need an upper. Page 7
