MAY 15, 1975 Rec-Ath News JUDO The Judo Club meets Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. in the Rec/Ath Building. BASEBALL: OGONTZ CAMPUS - 3 CAPITOL - 2 OGONTZ CAMPUS - 5 CAPITOL - 1 CAPITOL - 3 WILMINGTON COLLEGE - 2 The Capitol Campus “nine” put it all together last Wednesday as they downed Wilmington College 3 to 2. The game was highlighted by good pitching, outstand ing defense and timely batting. The big story of this victory was the power hitting of Al Hutchins who hit 2 long home runs. Ed Stish went the distance for Capitol, allowing only 2 hits. Another factor in the win was the good catching by Steve Remwick who threw out 2 Wilmington runners attempting to steal second. Other team members who added much to this impor tant win were Bill Nolan, Fred Andring, Larry Stegall, Fred Clark, Rich Lilley & Rich Stevens. The team will take a 3 & 7 record into their final game, a doubleheader with Sus quehanna University JV May 19 at Selinsgrove. Please note: The base gym and the Recreation/Athletics Build ing will be closed May 17-18 due to the spring concert. Other schools represented were, University Park (2 teams), East Stroudsburg, PSU-Mont Alto, Clarion State, Slippery Rock State, University of Pittsburgh- Johnstown campus and many others. It was reported that the after-game activities proved interesting also. Just ask Tom McMillen, Kim Unger or Ken Harris about Barbara! Or ask Paul Skodacek about the girl he was supposed to be fixed up with! There were 4 undefeated teams at the end of the first day. During the first day, people were asking, “What’s a Capitol Campus?, Where’s this Capitol Campus?” The second day, the tone changed to, “Capitol’s the one to beat!” Now, a lot more people know “What’s a Capitol Campus and where it is.” The trophy looked kind of shiny on Monday morning because it was reported that Paul Heintzman slept with it under his wool blanket. READER HOURS Once again, the frat wants to thank the team’s members for the win and the great school spirit. A few weeks ago, the frat lounge had no clock, so the XGIs were generally late for classes or didn’t show at all (the lounge being such a great, interesting and enter taining place). Lo and behold, we now have 2 clocks! One regular one and one slim-line hairless “Klock” (got it cheap because it doesn’t work). So now the XGIs will be more time conscious. Now when they’re late for class, at least they’ll know just how late they are!! Al Kerchner piloted the XGI tub to a 3rd place finish (Ist place according to TV 27!) in last week’s bathtub race. We only lost Ist place in that last hot stretch! All the tub pushers did a really great job and really gobbled up that beer after the race. Next year we’ll take first place, yeeaaahh!!! Also, president Paul Skodacek is to be commended for his untiring work on the tub and his doubling for a softball player in the tournament. Occasionally, he even takes time to get to class! Sometime next week, I’ll have some pictures of the event in the frat lounge. Why not stop in and get a look at them? The last frat meeting of the term at the Tiltin Hilton will be at 9 p.m., May 27. Please try to attend this meeting. The spring picnic is still on for Saturday, May 31, at Don Braun’s farm. Hope to see you there! Tennis On Saturday, May 3, the Capitol Campus tennis team defeated a group of Penn State Alumni players, most of whom were from the Berwick area, by a score of 7-2 on the Capitol courts. With the victory over the Alumni, the team moved closer to the .500 mark. The season record now stands at 4-5 with only a match against York remaining on the regular schedule. Also, on May 14 the team takes on the Faculty which includes such notables as Dr. Wolfe, Dr. Poore and Dr. Dexter among others. Scores from the Varsity- Alumni match: Zalonis, Alumni def.
