Why Doesn't Penn State Have
A Law School?
by R. Bennett
This question might never
be asked again. A plan is
under way to organize a
fully acredited law school in
the Harrisburg area. The
plan for the school was
initiated by Capitol Campus
graduate students and area
lawyers.
Initially, an evening
program would be
available. If a sufficient
number of qualified
students show interest, the
school could begin full
operations as early as 1978-
79. At least 100 inquiries
have been make already.
According to Prof. John
Jones of Capitol Campus,
one of the organizers of the
school, the idea of a law
school in the Harrisburg
area is not new. It was
presented three years ago,
but it was "nixed" by
personel from Dickenson's
law school who didn't want
the competition. Prof. Jones
believes that the new school
could compete against
Dickenson, because it could
appeal to the graduate who
works during the day and
can only go to the school at
night. Dickenson has no
night school.
Two of the organizers,
who asked that their names
be witheld, expressed hopes
that students could work
hand in hand with the
community, and provide
legal aid services.
The school has the support
of many professional
lawyers, judges and
legislators. It now needs the
support of interested
students. Faculty members
are also needed to work on
committees which will work
to gain governmental and
corporate financial support.
Inquiries should be ad
dressed to Law School, P.O.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who
voted for me for engineering senator in the recent SGA
elections. Also, as a result of a vote counting hassle, a
special closed run-off election for president of SGA will be
held on April 21st. So, once again, please go and vote for
your choice so that we can break this stalemate.
Remember what Al says, "A clean XGI Lounge is a
Happy XGI Lounge" !!! Rumor has it that a police call duty
roster is in the making for 0800 hours and 1600 hours, daily!
Failure to be present may result in an article 15 and a
limitation of one frat lounge visit per week for the offender!
