READER Why Doesn't Penn State Have A Law School? by R. Bennett This question might never be asked again. A plan is under way to organize a fully acredited law school in the Harrisburg area. The plan for the school was initiated by Capitol Campus graduate students and area lawyers. Initially, an evening program would be available. If a sufficient number of qualified students show interest, the school could begin full operations as early as 1978- 79. At least 100 inquiries have been make already. According to Prof. John Jones of Capitol Campus, one of the organizers of the school, the idea of a law school in the Harrisburg area is not new. It was presented three years ago, but it was "nixed" by personel from Dickenson's law school who didn't want the competition. Prof. Jones believes that the new school could compete against Dickenson, because it could appeal to the graduate who works during the day and can only go to the school at night. Dickenson has no night school. Two of the organizers, who asked that their names be witheld, expressed hopes that students could work hand in hand with the community, and provide legal aid services. The school has the support of many professional lawyers, judges and legislators. It now needs the support of interested students. Faculty members are also needed to work on committees which will work to gain governmental and corporate financial support. Inquiries should be ad dressed to Law School, P.O.
